Hostel AzorAzul - Pool & Suite

The building is nice and well kept. The bathrooms are clean and the beds are fine - definitely good enough. The kitchen is very well equipped. Breakfast is coffee, bread, ham, cheese, yogourt and some fruits. The staff present (8am-noon) were kind and courteous.

No staff on site except during limited hours. Bad communication, making it hard to drop off bags outside of the check in hours, even if approved beforehand. The pool was closed. The terrace was under renovation. Nobody advised. No staff except from 8-12 more or less. Meaning it’s a very self serve hostel. During my stay a drunk guest arrived at 3 am, passed out on the couch, left toast in the oven and nearly caused a big issue. Thankfully other guests, who woke up due to the horrible smell, put the fire/smoke away and saved the day. I understand the hostel can’t be blame for the actions of an idiot. That being said, saving money by not staffing the front desk 24/7 can have very dangerous and expensive repercussions. This time, the owners - who only send automatic WhatsApp messages but are nowhere to be seen - were lucky it wasn’t the case. Hopefully this is a wake up call to be better.
