Samostan Mekinje

It was peaceful and it was central.

Very little facilities to make food and no options to buy breakfast as cook went on vacation. There were 2 rings on the top floor and table an d chairs and fridge on ground floor. A lot of carrying ul and down stairs. Also 4 bowls to share and 2 cups in the whole place. I understand it isn't self catering but if no breakfast available the option should be there. Require better pillows.

The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Once we got confused about a road closure our navigation knew nothing about, so we called them and they helped us get to our desired destination. The shared bathrooms / showers were very clean and plentiful. The building has a very historical feel / charm to it. The evening we arrived we sat in the abbey garden and ate fresh apples from the trees there. The location is really nice. Mattasses, pillows etc. were better than expected.

The charming building has its drawbacks: thick walls means the rooms stay quite warm in the summer. Opening the windows got us a few uninvited guests (mosquitoes). The building is under heritage protection, so there is not much the hosts can do I guess. Also we had rooms on the top floor, a bit unlucky maybe. Don't get me wrong, it's still a 7 out of 10, but could have easily been a higher score.

Great and nice location in Kamnik. The monastery is very quiet with nice view of mountains around Kamnik. We enjoyed also breakfasts that were provided earlier than usually based on our request. We really appreciate hospitality of this accommodation and staff. We'll come back again.

The fact that you are in a monastery in the hills with the view is fantastic. We met another family at the property and felt like we had space to eat and chat together.

The kitchen could have been more usable. There was a tiny kitchen area upstairs but nothing could be cooked as there was nothing to cook in. The kettle didn't work but there was a small pan for heating water. The kitchen downstairs was larger but often used by other families. We needed to buy food that didn't need heating and there was only limited space in the fridge. Larger fridges would definitely make this a better experience and a microwave would help.

Wonderful location in a historic monastery. I came on holidays to take a break from work and the hostel and town were a balm to the soul. The hostel was clean and quiet and breakfast was delicious. The cook was very kind and accommodating. The showers were great and the gardens were gorgeous!

The WiFi didn't reach my room on the third floor and there was no air conditioning. Meaning it was very warm in July!!

What an experience! Staff was very responsive, kind, and informative. They were extremely helpful and accommodating despite our check-in/out outside of office hours. We were nevertheless greeted in person and received plethora of useful information about the accommodation, facilities, and trips. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. There is even a small kitchenette with a fridge and a kettle in the hallway. Bus stop 50 m away.

I would hope to gain more in person insight about the history of the place and how the nuns lived. Nevertheless I have nothing to complain about. Staying here was an absolute gem.

We stayed in family room. Bathrooms are shared but very clean. Monastery is very peaceful and beautiful.
