Madpackers Bir

The room size definitely exceeded my expectations! It's situated in a great location, right next to a monastery, makes it easy to access the heart of Bir. Also, special mention for Anjali who was ever ready to go out of her way to help us out with whatever we needed. Thanks to her, our stay at Madpackers was salvaged. There's a garden area right next to the accommodation as well, with a cafe to grab quick bites. WIFI worked alright. The front balcony was nice. What made it a great stay was the openness and the freedom to relax, with no extra expectations or imposition of mindless rules. A great place to disconnect! Gotta admit, an unforgettable trip.

Oh boy, where do I start? This property needs a serious managerial overhaul. Right from the moment we arrived at the property, things were all over the place. We reached around 9AM, and there was no official at the desk. Gave the benefit of doubt to the property since we were way before the mentioned check-in time. The common area kept us busy, and the cleaning man provided us access to the washrooms too, so that helped. Our rooms took 1.5 hours extra to get ready. Had to wait in 1 room for which we had luckily sent in an early check-in request. (Keep in mind that even that room was given to us at the default check-in time, not before that) Madpackers organized a local trek to a waterfall, and it was extremely mismanaged. No huddle up, no centralized communication system, half of the group went ahead without the guides. When the guides did arrive, they kept on walking, and abandoned 6-7 people, including me! We were left to fend for ourselves and somehow made it through. What's shocking is that we apparently paid for the guides too! Ended up getting lost, thanks to them. We employed our personal guides that we met along to way to help us out, else I wouldn't have survived to write this review. At the property, there is just 1 water filter that too on the ground floor. If you're on 3rd floor, good luck walking up and down the stairs to keep refilling your bottles. Rooms weren't cleaned completely when we checked in. Our trash wasn't thrown out. There were cobwebs on the ceilings and around the doors. The locks didn't work properly. Had to keep tuning it with the key, sometimes the door wouldn't open! We had no idea who's the one in charge. Had no idea about the hierarchy, or whom to reach out to for what at the property. The property has the potential to be the best, but needs to work on a lot. I hope they work on it.

Rooms were clean, comfy beds and attached shower with a good mirror size too.
