"Wonderful experience, great people, I'll be recommending this place to all my friends"

10.0

Super warm welcome from our hostess, always ready to listen and give us great advice. Wonderful encounters and lots of sharing with all our guests. Breakfast around the coffee bar and delicious waffles prepared by Marissa and Rebecca. Incredible location on a lava flow, in a natural setting like no other!

A little far from everything but worth it...Be careful to land in Hilo to get there...much more convenient than Kona which is on the opposite side of the island!!!

"Great place for some solitude and meeting fun adventurous people."

10.0

This is a gem of a place to stay. It's a bit off the beaten path and that's its charm. Its location on the lava field and the fact that it's off the electric grid system add to the appeal of this hostel. The fully stocked kitchen is very clean and organized. One of the best I have ever come across in any hostel. The hang out areas, art work on the walls and open air design add to the vibe and chill nature of the setting. They even have an impressive weight workout and yoga room. There are several nice beaches nearby but it's best to have a vehicle to get to them. Marissa is a fantastic manager with a lot of information to provide about the surrounding natural areas and Uncle Robert's for food and entertainment. I also appreciated that she always wanted some quiet and soothing music to be playing in the kitchen at all times. It was a great addition to ambiance. Free waffles and coffee in the morning made an excellent way to start the day. I will go back and maybe stay there for several days. It's a great home base to explore the beautiful Puna district. One needs to understand that this hostel caters to those who seek a quiet place in a unique setting, in a unique building that's off the grid and uses rainwater as its source of fresh water. Going in with this adventurous mindset will allow you to have a most excellent stay and experience and meet some fantastic travelers.

My only complaint is that although the beds are very comfortable the room is VERY stuffy. There needs to be at least a fan running the air around in the room. I understand that the place is using solar for electricity but there absolutely needs to be some electricity dedicated to at least powering a ceiling fan at night when trying to sleep.

"This place is a class act ... I would highly recommend this place to anyone."

The breakfast was great, and the staff were absolutely exceptional! I would give this property an ELEVEN out of TEN! I actually decided to stay longer because it was such a wonderful place to be and chill.

The only thing that needed work was the beautiful guitar that the staff llet me use the whole time I was there ... it just could use a little lighter gauge strings 😎🎸

The cleanliness of the place was astonishing! Way cleaner than a lot of hotels I've been to and for sure the cleanest hostel I've been to. The staff was super nice too and very welcoming and always ready to give advice on what to do and see in the area

If I really have to pick something I would say the location, but it's way more than compensated by the cleanliness and friendliness of the hosts. Also the whole location is an entire local vibe. Loved it
