Per il prezzo un po più caro di altri Ostelli! Mi aspettavo una struttura molto più curata e attenta al personale! Ma evidentemente le catene non sono buone! Staff naturalmente volontario,non pagato,almeno credo! E quindi non adeguato a gestire una struttura che lavora tanto!

My Dorm room is right next to the shower room and you can hear everything. Quite hard to catch some sleep in this room

Great location! The patio and bar area are really welcoming and clean. Staff are so so kind, professional and helpful. They cleaned the facility often. Beds and duvet were really comfy. I slept pretty well most nights.

Showers would barely warm up and were constantly grimy. Bathrooms always had a smell to them. The toilets were right beside the showers too. Hard to feel clean in a cold shower while the person beside you is having a poo. The 12-bed room is in the attic. There were no curtains as they weren’t the bunk beds seen in photos.

I really liked the great majority of Pilot Design hostel in Porto, its location is great, with two big train stations just 5-10 minutes walk away, lots of convenient local bus routes and a lot of things you want to see are all within a 20 minute walk. It’s also right opposite some really good restaurants, and just a few minutes walk away, are more restaurants, cafes and supermarkets in most directions! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, with checking you in, showing you to your room, explaining how the hostel works, what events are on each day and any questions you have regarding Porto, walking tours, pub crawls, activities etc, they were always happy to help. My rooms were both great (because I stayed for over a week, I got to know the staff well, and about half way through my stay, I was politely asked, if I could please change rooms as they had a sports team coming, and if I could please change, so that the sports team, could have the room I had been in, with my previous roommates to themselves, and also so that also I could move to a more quiet room too and I said yes (and they gave me free breakfast and my new room, had a cool balcony looking out over Porto, which I appreciated) and had very comfy beds with curtains, good charging facilities, draws to lock your valuables in and the furniture and duvets were nice! And the second room, had that great balcony where we could all sit, although my first room also had a great view of the street and area at the front of the hostel too. The hostels vibe was great and I had lots of great roommates, met good chatty people at breakfast and the pub crawls were fun and well organised and again I met some really great people (some who I am still in touch with), from all around the world! The breakfasts were good, affordable and had a good variety of choices. The showers and toilets were generally fine! There is a cash machine just outside the front door too.

Nothing major, I’d just say that the showers were a little frustrating, as it was quite hard to just get the water to be warm and it was often either a little too hot or a little bit too cold and you generally had to veer on the too hot side of it, but overall they worked fine! And the toilets could do with cleaning a little more regularly. The pub crawls were great fun when we went, but I didn’t actually go on that many when I was there (probably 3 in 8 days), as some nights there weren’t quite enough people to go! But it would’ve been nice if on those nights, as some of us still wanted to go out, if we could’ve had a bit more of a party or some sort of activity at the hostel itself. Or could we have just led our own pub crawl, between those of us who were keen to go out, as a lot of the bars and clubs are only a 5-10 minute walk away. Maybe you guys could use an app for that or something?

I liked how central the property is, could easily walk to different site seeing locations and it was also sheltered from the noise of the city. The bathrooms were also spotless and clean, you can tell how much effort goes into maintaining the tidiness of the hostel :) The beds were also very comfy and I liked how there was a little balcony. Most of all, I enjoyed the staff’s company on the pub crawl, I had never been to a hostel-run event before and they were exceptionally professional and caring, making sure nobody got left behind. Even though I was only in Porto for two nights, I felt super safe in this accomodation and if I am ever visiting again, I would book here in a heartbeat!! Great way to meet friends and other solo travellers :)
