Yaarl Hostels

The hostel is located at the centre of city so everything you need is within 400m walking distance. Dorm has aircon so you can cool your body from excessive heat wave in Jaffna during the month of May. Breakfast is unlimited and you get full but you have to be there before 9am otherwise will quickly be gone. Partially recommended with valid arguments herewith.

Unfortunately, my check-out procedure did not go well as the guy really wanted to pay me twice because of his mistakes as he forgot to note down (record) my second time payment for the extended booking despite I paid him at the time of extension. I was rushing for the train station and he kept on insisting me that I did not pay for the extended booking just because he did not make records of it after issuing the receipt, and he was not allowing me to go out unless I pay him again, and asking a receipt. I had to search inside my luggage extensively for the receipt, and I luckily got it, otherwise he was forcing me to pay again due to his mistakes of not recording my second time payment. It seems he is so used to do so to collect extra from the guest. I got really disappointed due this bad experience. Therefore, please be cautious guys.

Stayed at Yaarl Hostel and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is great and very convenient. We took the family room, which was quite big and spacious, making it comfortable for a family stay. Check-in and check-out were easy and smooth, which made the stay hassle-free. One of the highlights is that it’s within walking distance to Malayan Cafe, making it easy to grab meals anytime.

One area that could be improved is the washroom cleanliness, as it could have been cleaned better. However, this was not a showstopper and didn’t take away much from the overall experience.

La salle d'eau n'avait pas de pommeau de douche, en remplacement il y avait un sceau d'eau avec une coupelle. De manière générale, la salle d'eau était très vétuste et très humide car il n'y avait pas de fenêtre. Le ménage n'a pas l'air d'avoir été fait depuis très longtemps. Si vous avez peur des cafards, à éviter !!!! De plus il n'y avait pas de wifi, ce qui n'est pas pratique lorsque l'on voyage en sac à dos. L'accès au bâtiment se fait par un couloir sombre, le lieu semble être plus un garage qu'un hostel.
