The manager (?) was always in his room and so there was never any staff at reception and all the lights etc were turned off. It felt a bit eerie at times for this reason
FRWayne, the receptionist, is extremely helpful. And many of the guests are pleasant and travel to discover the country. We organized a day trip together.

Bathroom soaking wet when we arrived... all over. Not properly cleaned, just soaked everywhere and then not dried. Breakfast provided is processed supermarket white bread with peanut butter. Uncomfortable bed that you can feel the springs through. Very basic place that would be half acceptable if it was much cheaper. But for the price not good enough.
CAGreat location to explore Kuching and surrounding area. It was clean and simple breakfast was nice. Lots of info in the hostel about what to do around Kuching and how to get there/book things/costs which was really nice. Staff was very kind and helpful!

USGreat location! Appreciate the breakfast. Nice communal space. Quiet rooms.
MYUSAC was strong and water pressure in the shower was good. Host was communicative and responsive via whatsapp (but don’t expect anyone to be at the front desk most of the time). Location is ok, next to a lot of nice restaurants, but a 20+ minute walk to the central location (nontrivial in the heat!)
Room was very small with no windows (slightly misleading description saying the room offers a pool with a view, seeing as neither the room nor pool have a view). Bed was extremely uncomfortable (the worst we’ve had in our 6 week trip in Southeast Asia so far) - an old spring bed which creaked whenever we moved. We could feel the individual springs just by running our hands over the bed. So sleeping on it was extremely uncomfortable and we both had back pain after. Also, one small blanket is provided which can barely cover two people sleeping near the middle.
SEThe guy how runs it is super nice and will help with pretty much anything and you can always call him. In the reception there are a ton of brochures on diffrent things to do in Kuching and also how to get and how much they cost. Super nice street with many restaurants and shops, you never had to walk for more than 5 minutes for a meal.
