Mega Hostel

Nothing. The property is nothing like the pictures and reviews I saw online.

This was the worst hostel/hotel experience I have ever had. It is more of a boarding room than a hostel. It was extremely unsafe- there was a wide gap between the walls and the ceiling so there was a lot of noise+anyone could jump up and come in. The door did not lock, there was no mosquito net even when I asked for one, the sheets had stains and a musty smell, there was a giant spider in the room along with a lot of dust and grime on every surface. There was no network coverage in the room, I could not make phone calls/access my mobile data or the wifi. The washrooms were dirty. There were only open shower stalls, and there was no door on the shower area or a door-lock in the main washroom area. There was no one at the reception at any time of the day, and the caretaker reeked of alcohol whenever he was around the property. They had taken advance payment for 2 nights from me, but after a horrific experience of one night, I ended up switching accommodations without a refund.

Situated on an excellent location Bed is really comfy. Hostel rooms are clean. No disturbance from other guests or hosts. The host is caring and helpful. I recommend this hostel for budget travellers.

Can't give star rate for washroom although there was nothing to complain about showers. They should do something more to keep the washroom clean if they target foreign tourists though it was alright for local budget travellers.

The rooms are large and there is a light, power socket, and big locker for every bed. There were also fans so I wasn't hot. The location is great, just across the road from the beach.

I was honestly worried about my safety there. I felt like I was staying in an abandoned building. The whole place was completely empty, there were no other guests and no staff around either 99% of the time. Every so often I would hear men's voices or the shower running but never saw anyone. There were cans of beer in the trash can in the morning but I'm not sure who they belonged to as there were no other guests I saw. Two long hallways made up of dark, empty rooms. The main door to the street is open 24/7 and there's no one in reception or any security so anyone could just walk in from the street. The lock on the door of my room was broken. There were lots of mosquitoes but no mosquito nets. Everything was a little dirty. Showers were communal/open (like in a gym or swimming pool) but the door to the women's bathroom didn't lock, so I had to shower in my bikini in case anyone walked in. It really felt like the place was just abandoned and it was creepy and unsafe.

Located only a few steps from the Mirissa main beach area and the main road in a convenient location where all the restaurants and supermarkets are located.

Dorm rooms can get noisy at night after parties

Smelly Beds, all rooms roof gaps so smoking everywhere. Worst of all are the toilets .. Like the toilets are cleaned 10 months ago. Best place for animals.
