Sea Sands Beach Hostel

I recently had a very disappointing stay at a hostel, and I feel compelled to share my experience to help others make informed decisions. From the moment I arrived, the vibe was off. The hostel was unclean, with no visible effort to maintain basic hygiene standards. The bathrooms were especially unpleasant, and the shared spaces looked neglected. To make matters worse, the owner was rude and unwelcoming right from the start, which set a very negative tone for the entire stay. Simple requests were met with hostility, and there was no sense of hospitality. The location was another major letdown. It was far from the city center, making it incredibly inconvenient to explore the area. Public transport options were almost non-existent, so I had to go out of my way just to find a bus or taxi. Overall, this hostel was a combination of poor cleanliness, bad management, and an inconvenient location. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a decent and stress-free stay.

Very close to the beach. Beautiful sea view corridor. Nice location. Cheap rate rooms. I loved it. I wanna come again to this hotel on my next Srilanka trip.

The location, easy to get about everywhere, surrounded by shops and restaurants; the big breezy terrace leading directly out to the beach and its activities, the shared kitchen and free water.

The dorm was a bit small, difficult to air and too dimly lighted, could be improved with individual lamps. But can't really complain because of the very affordable price!

The hostel has a very good location in front of the beach. The room is very clean and the owner is very friendly

Nice staff, very close to the beach

You get what you pay for at this place, not the comfiest beds and so on - I'm fine with that. What I don't like however is having to wait for a long time before I can check in (in the afternoon, normal check-in time, reception should be staffed...) after writing on WhatsApp and a good amount of waiting the guy finally came. Because of this i simply wouldn't stay here again.
