Ofek's place - Midtown TLV

The location

Humidity, darkness, it's a cave basically with no air flow. The bed was also dirty, I got bitten by some insects in the night, I woke up covered of insect bites.

Everything works perfectly. Good for short term stay. Good hostel.

This was my first stay in Tel Aviv. Ofek's Place is absolutely Zen! Everything is clean, comfortable and efficient. Isaac, who runs the place is a wonderful person who makes sure everything is clean, tidy and stocked up. It hardly feels like a hostel, it feels like a big living-room where teas and coffees are freely available. there are cheap snacks there too. The decor is very soothing and relaxing. It is the sort of place where you can chat to someone if you want to or just do your own thing. No one will disturb you. Isaac does make it clear that if you need any help or anything please ask. I'm an older traveller and there was a mixed age group there. I was in the ladies dormitory with a wide comfortable bed. Fantastic place to stay!

I can't think of a single thing I didn't like!

Comfortable bed, and fairly clean. I really liked that there were cafes and bars 1-2 blocks away. As an experienced female solo traveller, I felt extraordinary safe in the surrounding hoods. As well as in Tel Aviv on a whole. I also travelled with a bicycle, and love how well the city was set up for cycling. The hostel has a bicycle lane just outside of the entrance, and I could leave the bike locked outside overnight.

As a solo traveller I read reviews thoroughly before booking. I pick places that has good reviews for social reasons. Reviews regarding the great and friendly atmosphere couldn't have been further from the truth. I didn't really know who were guests or semi guests, but the people who seemed like long term guests were the most arrogant people one could meet at a hostel. When I said "Hi" or "Good morning", at best I got a grunt in return. Not even a look, and for sure absolutely no smile. The only nice person in the hostel left the same night that I arrived. Apart from her, the only conversation I had with anyone in the hostel was with the staff (guy from NYC). The other girls would turn on the light and talk loud hours after midnight. On top of this I had three people who were sick and coughing all night long in my room. No sanitisers around, or masks required. My third night someone even put on a fan, which spread all the germs even more efficient. I had it, and left the following morning. Stayed 3 out of my 8 nights, didn't even make an effort for a refund.
