Love Shack Hostel & Cafe

I had a wonderful stay at Love Shak in Siquijor. The place is cozy, clean, and has a great atmosphere for travelers looking to relax and enjoy the island vibes. A special mention to Rita, the owner — she was incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help with local tips and recommendations. You can truly feel the love she puts into the hostel. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Siquijor. Thank you for everything!

I first stumbled upon Love Shack back in 2019 when it had just opened its doors. From the moment I met Tita Rita, I knew this was the place I’d always come back to whenever I’m in Siquijor. It’s got everything you want from a hostel but what truly makes it special is how Tita Rita makes you feel instantly at home. As a bonus, it’s only a few minutes away from Paliton Beach, where I can enjoy the sand and sea almost all to myself every morning (just a little after sunrise, my favorite time). Now on my 7th visit to Siquijor, I’ve spent 5 of those at Love Shack… and counting. You could say I’m under its spell and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🌴✨

The beds were comfy, and the bathrooms were big! The common area was nice and open air. Also Mama Rita was so so kind and brought my friend and I to see some of the sights, as neither of us could ride a bike! The staff are so lovely and nice as well, and were extremely helpful! Location is great for the beach, only a 5 min walk and a 15min walk to the town where a lot of restaurants are.

I had to leave early; conditions were completely inappropriate. I requested a refund for remaining 2 nights, and owner denied and blamed me for calling out the inhabitable conditions of her property. I had to escalate, contacting booking.com, my credit card company and the island tourism police. Eventually she refunded the 2 additional nights I had prepaid. Buyer beware. Guest house was not as described, guests were leaving as soon as they could in the morning. AC did not work, dorm room overheated Power outage: Generator died, people unable to charge phones Little privacy, no changing rooms Loud bathroom doors making sleep very difficult. People shouting in the night in the dorm room, and a lighting the room up night Loud storage and doors No internet, missed 3 online meetings. No good meetings space either. Very rustic. Bathroom not clean or private, with the shower/bath having backed up pooled water all over the shower and toilet area. Impossible to leave bathroom with dry feet. No blanket No clear directions of sights to see or essential services Huge spider in the room I have stayed at hostels around the world for 30+ years in Asia, North America, central America, and Europe. This was the most stressful stay I have ever had. I have never left a booking early before in all my travels. Staff smiled and did the best they could but conditions were just bad. I suggest delisting this rental until they can prove they provide conditions suitable for habitation. Owner blamed me for speaking up about the issues everyone was dealing with. She wrote "all your issues are everyone's issues." This was her response to the issues I shared above. No initial attempt to address significantly in appropriate condition. Just blamed me

The best hostel in Siquijor ! The staff is friendly and the free breakfast in the morning is the best way to meet people.

The staff are very friendly, and the dorms confortable ! We enjoy a lot the karaoke party in this hostel ! I really recommande this place ! Love you Amber (Mamina !!)
