Zostel Jaisalmer

The location and ambience was really great. Perfectly located inside the fort and surrounded by little streets and shops.

I was travelling there off-season so they could sadly not offer me the same price for the desert safari they provide (and tried to overcharge me way too much - which was the sad part). During the season the tours are a daily thing and also for a reasonable price.

You're staying in the fort but then everything is at the base so you have to walk up and down the hill each time, air con was cold in the private room, owner was great to take me to the train station when i realised i had forgotten something on the train. Started off SO well....

Many things - after the trip to the train, he was extremely pushy to join his desert tour, price was negotiated as you do in India and then he was extremely cold for the rest of my stay. Can't have that as a hostel manager. Price was 10x everywhere else in town which I'm kicking myself for not realising. The desert tour - one of the staff member was extremely creepy, i believe it was him that then had a punch on/physical fight with other staff. Desert was not endless dunes like Morocco but more like dry arid scrub with a small patch of sand. Was told kitchen was closed but another guest (Indian) had food cooked for him from the kitchen and served to his room. Bedroom had very poor lighting to the point i had to use my phone to see at night and the water heater in the bathroom would emit sparking like sounds and an unpleasant smell.

Honestly, the best about my stay was the help I received after being injured! Narendra helped me soooo much and drove me to two hospitals even late at night after being trampled by a cow! He drove me around the day after so I could get treatments and was just an absolute sweetheart! Wouldn’t know what I would have done without him! Also Somesh is an extremely nice guy and lovely to hang out with. Narendra Somesh and all others working at Zostel Jaisalmer made my stay beautiful even though my arrival wasn’t the greatest travelling experience :) So thank you to all of you!! The room was I booked was absolutely stunning as well! And the view from the balcony as well as the food I ate was amazing! Would always come back :)
