MIEL BED Hostel & Gallery

Extremely central location. Nice size room. Comfy bed. Big fridge with some water, coke and juice, which I was told I could take. The staff were friendly and smiley and I felt comfortable there. The cat was cute. Good value for money overall.

When I checked in, my passport was searched like at border control and a picture was taken of my visa. I've travelled a lot throughout Thailand and stayed in many hostels and hotels and this was a first for me. After a few minutes of starting at my passport and flicking back and forth, I asked the receptionist what exactly they were looking for, and they just said nothing and gave me my passport back. It felt very odd- something I expect at an airport but not at a hostel. Was not a positive first experience. No plug sockets beside the bed so you either need to move the bedside table or have a very long cable for it to reach. Water temp in shower could have been hotter but perhaps people like cold showers due to the hot weather.

Very clean, very quiet, silent aircon, the staff are very friendly, kind and helpful and the cat in the reception is so lovely! It was heartbreaking having to leave, the place felt like home!

Great location. The hostel entrance is on a busy street..but the room where we were was in a bit back from the street and face a different direction so it was very quiet. We stayed there on a weekend where the street market was happening and there was no noise at all. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything! The staff was so friendly. No issues with the room. Great location, seconds away from Chiang Mai's most famous temple complex. And quiet! I may be swinging by Chiang Mai again in a few days and will try to stay here again.
