Laughing Leopard Hostel

The other travellers we met here were nice and there was a bonfire at night which was great.

Check-in was unorganized, with no staff available for a long time. My bed had black mould, and staff were dismissive when I asked to move - finding me another bed and then not telling me which one it was until I went and found them again 30 mins later (despite them saying to “wait there”, they left to go and play with the puppies). The dorms were freezing, and requests for extra blankets were denied. Bathrooms were dirty and seemed rarely cleaned, I also am skeptical that the bed sheets are ever washed or the blankets. Staff gave conflicting and rude instructions about room changes, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Alongside this, there are a number of puppies that are rarely tended to - about 11 in a small enclosure that often were rolling around in their own piss, which was very upsetting. The big dogs, while friendly usually, were very aggressive when coming back in the evening, which was quite unpleasant. In spite of meeting some lovely people here - poor management and lack of basic hospitality made this a disappointing stay. Would not recommend.

One of the best hostels I ve stayed and easily best ones in Sri Lanka. The property is beautiful and spacious. The guys who manage it are very kind and helpful and fun . Perfect place to meet other travelers. They have three dogs and 9 puppies which made my stay memorable. The dorms are clean and spacious enough and the common areas too.

Nice hostel in Nuwara Eliya - they have great outdoor space to chill,dogs are friendly, the atmosphere is quite laid back. I was on the day when there were very few guests, so can’t speak about social stuff much - the family dinner was yummy, the hosts were super friendly and helpful

I really like this hostel because they go above and beyond for their guests. Every Thursday, they offer a family dinner plan, allowing everyone to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine together.
