The only positive aspects of this hostel are its location in Dar es Salaam and a few members of staff who were helpful with internet issues.

We were asked to remove our shoes on arrival because the floors had just been painted, which meant walking barefoot throughout the entire property — including the kitchen which was extremely unpleasant and unhygienic. While the freshly painted floor is clearly a recent cosmetic update, it does not compensate for far more serious issues elsewhere. The condition of the kitchen and its cupboards is shocking and raises serious public health concerns. The fridge barely keeps food cool. We also found cockroaches in the bedroom, which was absolutely horrendous. Access to the first floor is via a steep metal staircase that feels hazardous — especially when guests are expected to walk barefoot. This alone is unacceptable from a basic safety perspective. There was a window above the bedroom door that allows bright hallway light to shine directly into the room at night, forcing us to sleep head-to-foot just to avoid it. The swimming pool was not clean. Breakfast was very basic and insufficient. The air conditioning has only one setting, so the room is either freezing when on or unbearably hot when off. When trying to book a taxi to the airport through the hotel, we were quoted an extortionate USD 100, compared to USD 25 via Uber. The hotel does not accept US dollars, and their exchange rate is unfair compared to the market rate. I do not mind staying in very basic accommodation if the price reflects that — cheap and cheerful. However, this place charges prices comparable to a mid-range, three-star hostel, yet the reality does not even meet a one-star standard. We stayed in other hostels in Tanzania at a similar price point, and the standard elsewhere was vastly higher. The only positive aspects of this hostel are its location in Dar es Salaam (although it is quite a walk from the coast) and a few members of staff who were helpful with internet issues. We will not be returning.
