Hostel Tavares Bastos

Dudu and his family are great ! It's a really safe favela community ,everyone knows each other, super helpful, I ended up staying for a week. It's got the best view! Room is comfortable. There's drinking water, basic kitchen to use. You can handwash your clothes and hang to dry on the rooftop. I would for sure come back.

When I was there, it wasnt crowded, but I can see that if it's high season, the washroom could be a problem, only two available. Also maybe a bit more kitchen supplies would be better.

Los dueños son amables y honesto. Es gente buena, el lugar es seguro y la vista es linda. Pero hay un pequeño gran problema...

La ubicación. Este hostel solo es bueno si planeas salir de día y dormir de noche. Está aislado , literalmente en un cerro, solo se puede bajar en transporte. Un día quise salir de noche y ni los ubers llegaban, aunque en el hostel te intenten decir lo contrario . Si te bañas más de 10 minutos se corta la electricidad, un día me bañé de noche y se apagó todo, casi me caí tratando de salir en la total oscuridad

Eduardo is a very nice and funny host.

Shower. Matras. Only 1 plug in the bedroom. Something got stolen but returned to me in a mysterious way…. They don’t clean regulary.

Beautiful views from the hostel, safe area during the day and night. Dudu is an amazing host who makes sure that you feel right at home.

Everything was great. The hostel is on top of the hill, but there is a local mototaxi / van service to take you up. The hostel is located near the Maze , not at where the google maps geotag is, for the ubers to take you all the way up

L'endroit est calme, très propre, le propriétaire est adorable, très a l'écoute, je recommande vivement cet établissement !

super séjour, avec de bons convives et un hôte aux petits soins et plein de bonnes recommandations. la vue pour le lever de soleil imprenable!

l'accès compliqué pour rejoindre l'hostel la première fois, l'espace cuisine assez petit.
