Gaia Hostel

The place is near to Botafogo train station, Santos Dumont airport,, bars, supermarket and easy to go to the most famous spots of the city by Uber. Staff was friendly as I've never experienced before and some of them speaking English. They are aware of where and when to go with suggestions and tips from Christ the Redeemer to the night life. There is a mix of guests from their early 20's up to early 40's. It's a good mix where you can meet people with similar vibes and very respectful to each other. Regular staff cleaning the bathrooms and shared areas throughout the day and 24h receptionists. Air conditioner in the bedrooms too.

The water filter attached to the kitchen tap is way too slow. It could be better or have more than one. The bedroom on the front side of the building can be noisy early morning due to road traffic. During bedtime it's ok.

We had a private room, which was very spacious and clean. We also felt very safe and comfortable using the common areas. The other guests were kind and approachable as well as the staff. There is always something social going on and there is a possibility to arrange activities outside the hostel with the people living there. The location is also good, close to the metro and popular bars in the neighbourhood.

It is a vining area so it wasn’t a surprise for us, but it is a noisy place to stay at, especially during the weekend.
