On the top of a hill, tiring to reach

Great view of the fortress just outside the heart of the old town. This hostel creates a great environment that attracts the best kind of travelers. The guy that runs the place is very kind & knowledgeable and made a delicious breakfast. If you like the type of hostel that feels like a homestay and allows you to meet other amazing souls, than this place is for you! I wish all hostels were like this!

Everything was great, but it’s important to note that the location on Google Maps is inaccurate. It isn’t as far up the hill as it looks.

I'm sure this place will appeal to many people with the right mindset. I know no harm of the facilities. In fact, the facilities were never shown to me. My bed was not ready yet. I sat on the terrace. I was offered 2 free beers, and during those beers the owner managed to piss me off so badly that I left.

I have travelled for 20 years. I've stayed in places where there was cockroaches on the bed or no toilet and you'd go outside to pee. This was the first time I've walked away from a pre-booked hostel, and it was because of the owner's arrogant behaviour. After a half an hour's acquaintance, he started making condescending remarks about me. When confronted about this, he basically said it was all in my imagination. I was being SO subjective, while he was of course the most objective person on the planet, going on and on about "the universe" and his (half-drunken) theories/opinions, interrupting his customers all the time. This was especially uncomfortable for me whose English wasn't nearly fluent enough to defend myself from these attacks and the owner was a native speaker. But hey, it was all me. It's up to me what kind of experience I invite in my life, or something. So I decided to invite a night in a hotel where I can get a room without having to tolerate disrespect. A few hours later I got a message asking when I was coming, just as if nothing had happened. When I tried to ask who was writing these messages, they said "so many questions, are you coming or not?" I think this pretty much paints a picture of the place. It's more important for them to keep drinking and ego-boosting than care about such mundane things as decent customer service or even knowing who their customers are. But sure it will work for sone. If your goal is to arrive in a place and stay there for an indefinite time doing nothing, drinking with the owner and giggling about last night's shenanigans, not questioning their egoism... I think that was the idea. If you want customer service, go elsewhere.

Just above and back from the main road so great views from its terrace and a quiet place. Staff very friendly and if you catch ‘Dave’ there you’ll have a good ‘craic’. Ask about the Woo and the Universe for starters…

The usual for me with most hostels beds are about ok but not amazingly comfortable..

Very friendly hosts who are down for a drink and a chat. Beautiful historic building. Met some really interesting travellers here!

Some roaming street dogs hassled me nearby. It's a little walk from the centre but still good location wise.

the property was cosy and pretty. location was good at the top of an uphill street.

the place was extremely dirty. the bed sheets smelled horrible and the bathrooms were beyond disgusting. no hand wash or soap whatsoever full of dead flies and used tissues all over the floor. the kitchen and fridge was so dirty and smelly with a sink full of dirty dishes all the time. no one was happy with the place during my stay and many people left after the first stay. host was super loud and drunk all the time and not helpful with questions. after a complain, the host told one of the guests that this is the value of her money and needs to lower expectations! the property and location had potential but terrible management makes it an unpleasant experience.

One of the best hostels on Earth I have ever been, hands down. Absolutely majestic views on the hills of Veliko Turnovo. This place has a great vibe. The staff is exceptional - during my stay there Agora (not sure about the spelling) took excellent care of things and prepared delicious local pastry for breakfast. If it was for me, I would stay there for weeks - many thanks!

To digital nomads out there - at certain times it might get a bit noisy as people hang out in the common area.
