Delny Highland Lodges

Beautiful location, if not a bit out of the way. The surroundings were clean and well kept. Lodges we're lovely and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. .

It was a bit out of the way.

The location was amazing, such a peaceful place to relax. We had a balcony, it was just a shame we couldn’t make more use of it due to the weather! There is a really peaceful loch just a short walk away, with boats that are free to use. The owner really takes great care of the area, he is really cheerful and helpful and always waves as we pass. I really think that he loves what he does and was happily passing round a free shot to everyone who came down to the on site restaurant/bar for the live music! The bar is small but adequate, with a good selection of food and for a reasonable price. The lodges were super, warm and cosy. The owners had even provided washing up liquid and oil, salt and pepper! They have horses, cows and reindeer on site which you can feed, and also Kevin the duck which we were given some lettuce from the bar so the kids could feed him. He was a bit noisy and the kids were a bit worried for their fingers! Would definitely recommend the site for anyone who wants a peaceful holiday! Inverness in 40 minutes and if you want a beach I would highly suggest Dornoch.

The site is down a single track road and my sat nav took me up someone’s drive! Be prepared to do a bit of driving as there is not much to do close by, most of our trips out were about half hour or more, but I think that would be the case in most places in the Highlands! Although the kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils, the oven is pretty naff and took over 45 minutes to cook sausages one morning. Also, I don’t know what it is with holiday lets, but yet again another toaster that won’t fit a slice of bread!

The lodge was awful. Beds so uncomfortable that neither of us slept for more than 2 hours over the whole 1 night we stayed. The floors creaked no matter where you walked and as such added to keeping us awake. The staff never had our booking so did not know we were coming hence the last minute run down, dated, filthy and overgrown lodge we were dumped in. The neighbours had a bbq right next to our balcony so we could not sit out due to the smoke, not that it really mattered as the trees had grown over the balcony so no view and no sunlight. Staff gave us a number for hoseasons to ask to be re-located but the number didnt exist. We could not contact you ourselfs as we had no signal and the Wi-Fi was useless. The staff could not contact you either, if they even tried. We had to leave after only one night as we had no sleep and were in agony with the uncomfortable beds. When we complained we were told they would not move us to another lodge and that they would see if they could get us a mattress topper!!!! We even tried one mattress on top of the other and it made no difference. No towels, toilet paper or any normal things you would expect. Told we could hire a towel!! Worst place I have ever been to and we have been to plenty before. I was told by booking.com that they instructed Delny Highland lodges to give us a full refund but it could take up to a month. I contacted Delny after 1 month to be told they knew nothing about it and they would not give a refund. I am going to put an official complaint in to Hoseasons and booking.com and will take this as far as I can with any trade associations or governing bodies, also social media platforms. There is no way they are going to get away with treating us the way they have.

Location, animals and Dutch barn pub were great. Daughter still misses Kevin the goose. Karl and his family complete the experience. Well done!!

On arrival at the location the staff were very welcoming and enthusiastic, the cabin itself was comfortable and exceptionally clean and tidy. The grounds were well kept, grass cut nicely etc, and the walks around the woods were lovely.

The beds were comfortable, however they were fairly creaky and could do with replacing at some point We really can’t complain about anything else!

Peaceful quiet lovely walks animals were cute especially Kevin the goose 🪿 there is a small pub dinner on site only open at night

Could've done with an honesty box or a wee shop for things like bread milk butter etc .you need a car if you can't walk anywhere
