Palazzo del Senatore

The property is an old castle converted to this hotel and Daniele really takes such great care of all the guests. The only thing the room we had was a bit uncomfortable due to the titled ceiling and we are both tall but otherwise all was just perfect.

We randomly selected this location as a halfway stop on our road trip from southern Puglia to Tuscany. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the accommodation, the village and the area were so beautiful and exceeded our expectations! We wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts were very friendly and the history of the Palazzo and their family is very interesting. The rooms are historic, but with all modern comforts including modern bathrooms and comfortable beds, desk, storage, small fridge, iron/board etc. Everything is impeccably clean. The breakfast terrace is beautifully furnished and the view over the mountain valley is spectacular. The village itself is very pretty and charming and we loved getting a drink at the bar next to the Palazzo Ducale in the old centre, just two minutes walk from the hotel. The locals were also very friendly, a couple of them pointing out historic details to us. They seemed quite proud of the history, including the remains of a Roman cistern. Highly recommend this place to those looking for the road less traveled. We definitely want to go back.

Breakfast was good; the cheeses were outstanding! Wonderful service by the lovely woman who made our espressos and cappuccinos. We opted to eat on the beautiful terrace, which was a memorable experience - gorgeous views all around. The host is very gracious. Gave us the perfect recommendation for a casual authentic osteria for dinner. Parking for our little Fiat Panda was just at the front entrance. The building inside and out is stunning; the location ideal.

The only thing I can think of is the bathroom in Room 8 could use a little more light. And this could just be my jet lag, having flown across the Atlantic and driven to Atina straight from Fiumicino, but the ceiling on the window side of the bed in this room is slanted (dormer), making it very easy to bump your head. These are minor points; we would stay in Room 8 again tomorrow:)

Lovely hotel in a lovely location with fantastic views of the Comino Valley; what more could you ask for! Very restful and relaxing after the bustle of Rome. Will definitely be back!
