"Very good"

8.0

Tents are well equipped and AC works good enough if you set it right (electricity available in tents 02.30 pm to 08.40 am. Food is good enough, however quality and serving hours depend strongly on day tour groups - I didn’t like it. Best part is possibility to rest and enjoy the beach. Best thing? HORNBILLS living on this island and playing with hermit crabs on the beach.

It is more like youth camp standers, and I expected sth a bit different. Sometimes it is really littered and it can spoil the pleasure.

"Great opportunity to experience coral reef communities in a laid back beach environment"

9.0

Well-isolated from the mainland and noise of Kota Kinabalu, the island is a perfect place to unwind. There are reefs off the beach to snorkel, plus the boat trip to snorkel a nearby reef was amazing. The tents are luxurious and comfortable with hardwood floors and a/c! The food was simply amazing! Staff were very very nice & helpful.

Considering snorkeling on the coral reef is a significant component of the stay at Dinawan, I would love to see/receive some education about reefs, reef fish, and marine conservation. No one told us anything about the reef we visited or even that there was a reef in the island’s swim area. There were no ID guides to let us know what fish we saw. There was some marine trash along the shoreline & in the water (and a lot more on other parts of the island), and some messaging that people’s actions elsewhere can affect the reef here would be amazing. I’d love to see a big wire fish bin for visitors to put trash they pick up along the beach! Also, do a frog walk to the beautiful lily pad pond!

"Nice island close to KK."

10.0

Nice location. Many possible activities. Good food. They arranged a private boat for us to meet our schedule at a very reasonable cost.

It rained in the afternoon...

"Beautiful location ruined by litter."

4.0

The accommodation was fantastic. The tents were clean and comfortable. The food we had was simple and nice. The view is spectacular.

The selling point of this hotel is the beach and the view. Unfortunately, this is ruined by the abundance of trash in the ocean and on the beach. My small children found enormous pieces of broken glass on the sand. We found 3 in total and 2 nails. We tried to walk along the beach but couldn't, due to the enormous amount of trash on the beach and hidden in the bushes. The resort has a responsbility to keep this clean and should do ALOT more. The staff were sat around most of the day. They could enormously improve their facilities by checking the beach daily and doing more to keep it clean. What if someone stepped on broken glass? We live nearby and would have loved to come back but unfortunately we can't look past this. I don't normally post reviews but I hope this will encourage the owners to do more and take greater responsibility in keeping Sabah beaches clean and protect the environment. It was honestly disgraceful.

"Luxurious experience without hurting your wallet"

9.0

Everything was perfect during my stay! The surrounding is very peaceful, away from the city life. I love everything about the resort, from the accommodation, the facilities, the activities provided, the friendly staffs, the FOOD, and of course the views! We were very lucky to witness the sunset and sunrise, they were spectacular! Highly recommended!

The only downside of our trip was the air conditioning in the room. I think it was too small to cater for the big tent.

"Amazing stay away from the mainland"

7.0

10mins boat ride to the island. We went on a Wednesday night and there was only one other couple staying on the whole island with us. Very tranquille settings. They send you an itenary which was perfect as lists all the activities on offer whilst you’re there which is a lot!

Tents can get very hot despite the portable AC machines.

8.0

we did not know that this was a glamping island BUT the facilities were very good. Air con / shower /loo / wash basin were within our tent . lots of space for double bed, hanging rails and storage too. Quite civilised!! The staff ,especially Max , sorted everything out for us. Food was excellent. Snorkelling very good.
