Baan Panseng Bungalow

Lovely hosts with friendly cats and dogs. Well equipped, super-clean and comfortable bungalow with efficient AC, strong Wi-Fi and a private bathroom including soap/shampoo. These bungalows seem to be the furthest from the Khlong Jao town center, and they are tucked away from the road and only 10 minutes by motorbike to the big waterfall, so nights were really peaceful and quiet. We loved being close to the forest and away from the noise of the bars. The restaurant serves very good Thai food (my partner is Thai and also a chef, and we both know Thai food well) and is very pleasant, as it overlooks the road and is surrounded by trees and plants. We noticed many non-guests, both Thai and foreign, drop in for dinner, so this kitchen seems to be well regarded in the area. The owners also rent out motorbikes, which you will need too explore the island; we paid 250 baht per day + our first evening for free, since we arrived in the late afternoon.

If you are mostly vegetarian like me, be aware that fresh green vegetables and plant-based protein like tofu are expensive on islands, as they must be sourced from the mainland. Also, we visited at beginning of the low (rainy) season, when many cafés and restaurants close. So, good vegetarian food is rare. Breakfast was free and included fresh fruit, which was delicious. But the plain white toast with egg were boring. For those who like Asian-style breakfast, there is rice soup with shrimp and sometimes fish. For those who like good bread, you may be disappointed. It would be nice to see whole grain bread and maybe oatmeal cereal on the breakfast menu. Our bungalow lacked a fan, which would have been useful on the balcony to keep the mosquitoes away in the evening.

Great location, nice bungalows and good breakfast. We rented motorbikes for 250bhat/day. They were almost brand new with very few kms in it. The family is really nice but it’s a bit hard to communicate with them because of the language gap. I would stay here again anytime:) thanks for everything!

Fresh fruit every morning and beautifuly cooked eggs on toast.

The room was pretty new and it was nice and clean. Breakfast was delicious. The family staff were really friendly and helpful. Nice cold AC and the shower pressure was good for Island standards:) We rented a scooter which was in good condition from the family.

We stayed for 5 days and our bins were not emptied at all, except by us. Also we ran out of toilet paper pretty quick and had to ask for more. In the end we just bought extra at the local shop. A little clean and sweep after a couple of days would have been good. But overall a nice stay.

We stayed in the wonderful Baan Panseng Bungalows for a week. We liked everything very, very much! This resort is owned by a very friendly and kind family. Everyone is very responsive and friendly. The service is top notch - everything is done with soul, with a smile and respect for the guest. By the end of our stay here, everyone here became almost family. ❤️ The location is wonderful: the bungalows are located almost in the very center of the island, 15-20 minutes walk (and 5 minutes by bike) from the very beautiful Klong Chao beach. To the northern and southern beaches it takes about 10-15 minutes by bike. It feels like the bungalow is in the forest, from early morning the birds sing loudly - these are incredible sounds of nature! The bungalows themselves are very neat, with large open verandas. Inside it is clean, everything you need is there: a large bed with a strong mattress, super silent air conditioning, a refrigerator, a hot shower, an electric kettle. A few more shelves in the room and bathroom, it would be perfect. Breakfasts are great, filling, there is plenty to choose from. And in general, the hotel restaurant cooks very tasty (we ate only Thai food), you can feel that everything is prepared from fresh products and by talented chefs. People even come here to eat from neighboring bungalows. And the Thais themselves come here for the hot pot (if you are here, be sure to try it). It is delicious here, the portions are large and inexpensive. You can also rent a motorbike here. We got a brand new black Honda Click, on which we rode through the most beautiful places of the island. Renting a bike is very simple - you pay money, take the keys, without any hassle with documents and international driving license. :) There are five cats on the territory of the resort, all very affectionate and friendly. Our favorite was the peach plush Chaa Tai, we did not let him out of our hands and squeezed him a lot.:)* We will definitely come back here next year! 🙏🏽❤️

1) The family having the bungalow was kind and nice. 2) There was free breakfast included in the price. 3) You could rent scooters for a good price. 4) The mattress was hard for us and we told them about it and they were willing to give us a new room where the mattress was less hard. 5) There was good airconditioning in the room. 6) The bungalow was centrally located in the island.

1) The mattress in the first bungalow where we stayed was hard for us, but then they moved us to another bungalow where it was better. 2) Tip for improvement: It would be better if the curtains were darker so that there is less light in the morning coming from the windows.

Very nice hosts..we enjoyed the terasse very much and loved the location. Renting a scooter is very easy.
