Niva Dhigali Maldives - A Premium All-Inclusive Resort

Staff is super friendly. They really did their best to make our stay pleasant. Housekeeping, restaurant staff and bars - great work.

I’m a returning guest and this visit was a total disappointment. Without any prior notice, the hotel management suddenly closed the main restaurant for dinner. So, the promised buffet dinner was not available anymore. Given that there are only 3 a-la carte restaurants on the island, and the choice there is very poor, that was a very unfriendly decision. A-la carte restaurants are a joke. Tiny, never changing menu, ridiculously small choice of everything. Not to mention the quality of food; none of the restaurants is good enough even for a 4-star hotel. Maybe I was unlucky to come during a low season this time, but I paid the full price for my stay (no special promotions, no discounts) and I was expecting a predictable premium all inclusive service level. Nice buffet restaurants with a great selection of everything; great a-la carte restaurants, etc. What I got instead: closed restaurants, choice between “pasta or rice” for dinner. That was my last visit to Dhigali, unfortunately.

Amazing hotel! The room was nice and comfortable, love the outdoor bathroom! The beach was really nice as well. The swimming pool was great with quite a few activities (pool party, aqua fitness, etc.). The restaurant were really nice with a lot of choices (you can basically eat something at any time of the day).

Whilst the food was tasty sometime at the buffet some of the food was not warm enough. One of the excursion we did was planned for 2h but it ended up shorter by 30min...bit of a bummer knowing we had to pay extra for it.

Beautiful resort, clean and well kept property and facilities. Excellent buffet choices. Attentive staff. Great place to relax.

Loved everything

The all-inclusive package was great. With a selection of 4 restaurants, 2 bars, cafe, pizzeria and sunset cocktails, we were spoilt for choice. Despite not seeing any dolphins on the dolphin tour we enjoyed a lovely 2 hours island spotting. Expat Lifestyle with Badds. Check out my vlog.

Leaving Dhigali

The restaurants were all very nice, with very good food and friendly staff. The beaches were beautiful, white sand with no debris inside, clear waters with fish even close to the shore, very good snorkelling experiences. There weren't many people on the beach, and you could easily find some lonely corners. We brought our own snorkelling gear, but the resort offers snorkelling gear for free of charge for the duration of your stay. The villa we stayed in was very clean and well equipped, and the house keeping service was top notch, coming twice a day to clean (with a nice smell) and make the beds etc. Also, the minibar got refilled each day. There were plenty of various activities included in the all-inclusive package around the resort, including some boat trips. The island was quite big, you could walk from one side to another in around 15-20 minutes (if you have a fast pace). There are also buggy-cars which are going around the island, but the frequency varies depending on the time of the day. We didn't mind walking from one point to the other, though. We usually enjoy a 15-minute walk after dinner. The inner jungle was very nice, and there is a "jungle walk" where you can see all sorts of plants and coconut palm trees. If you miss lunch or breakfast, there are alternatives in-between eating times: the pizza place; bars with sandwiches and snacks. The staff was very friendly everywhere and they tried to accomodate almost all of our wishes. I suggest you keep in mind to have a small tipping budget to give thanks to the staff, because they are all kind. If you liked Dory from "Finding Nemo" - you'll see plenty of Dory fish when snorkelling :)

The beaches in front of the villas are of varying "quality" - some have bigger beaches, some have very small portions of beach in front of them. Some had proper swimming areas, some had just small lagoons where you couldn't really swim in. We had one with a small lagoon, so we didn't really use our front beach. We were only 2 minutes walk from the East Beach, so we were going there to swim. In some places there are mosquitos, especially during the evening. I think the resort takes measures against them, there weren't loads of mosquitos, but they still bit us during some evenings (in the interior of the island, not near the beaches). You should make sure to make reservations at the a-la-carte restaurants before you arrive there, because onsite through the app you can only make reservations 3 days before, and they get booked very fast. Thankfully, we had booked 5 dinners out of seven days with two weeks before we arrived. And we booked one dinner through the application. We could enjoy each of the a-la-carte restaurants twice during our stay. And for the last evening, we couldn't book dinner through the application, so we ate at the Capers Restaurant (where you don't need to book it in advance) - so no real issue. The food is very good and diverse there as well.
