Very far away from anything. Because there is no Gojek, you had to either rent a scooter for 200K rupiah per day, or pay for a taxi of the hotel, which was expensive. For us to go down to a restaurant for dinner and back, we had to pay 500K rupiah for a driver to bring us. A complimentary shuttle every couple of hours would be a good solution considering the distance.

We had a great stay at The Mesare Resort. The resort is located in a peaceful, central spot on the island, surrounded by nature. Because of this, you will need a driver or scooter to get to most places, but it also gives the place a real sense of privacy and quiet. The rooms are fully equipped with all necessary comforts. A nice detail is that you can open the wooden folding doors, which creates the feeling of being completely outdoors while still staying comfortable inside. There is a mosquito net between the spaces, and the bed is also fitted with a canopy net, so insects are not an issue. Getting around the resort is easy thanks to the golf cart service, which can take you to and from the lobby—especially convenient when arriving with luggage. The resort itself is beautifully designed and very relaxing, with facilities including a spa, yoga sessions, a restaurant, and a lovely swimming pool with comfortable sunbeds. It’s a great place to unwind during the day. The natural surroundings are a big plus, with plenty of wildlife such as birds and geckos, adding to the authentic island experience. What really stood out was the staff. During our stay, I was unwell for a few days due to an eye infection, and several staff members regularly checked in to see how I was doing. A special thank you to Shery, who even arranged for tea to be brought to my room. That level of care was truly appreciated. Room service was also excellent—fast, convenient, and very helpful when needed. Overall, a very comfortable and peaceful stay. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat with plenty of privacy and calm in nature on Nusa Penida.

One small point of improvement would be to stock the minibar with drinks and possibly some snacks, even if at an additional cost, as there is no supermarket nearby.

Maybe the doors could more sealed at the bottom for the insects but its an eco resort so cant complain

I loved how quiet and secluded the property was. Very beautiful and peaceful being in the middle of the rainforest! The staff were so lovely and helpful here!

The only very small negative I could say about the property is that’s it’s really far from the main part of Nusa Penida
