Dinuda Lagoon Hotel

• Stunning View and Excellent Location: The view from our room was stunning, and the hotel’s location was excellent, making it easy to explore the surroundings. • Beautiful Hotel Grounds: The hotel grounds were beautiful, enhancing the overall appeal of the place. • Availability of Rentals: The availability of bike and boat rentals was a nice touch, offering additional activities for guests. • Pleasant Staff: The staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful within their capacities, contributing to a more enjoyable stay.

Lack of European Cuisine: The most disappointing aspect was the lack of European cuisine options. The menu promised variety, but the only dishes prepared were rice and curry. • Repetitive Breakfast: Breakfast offered no variety, presenting the same options daily which became monotonous. • Room Maintenance Issues: There were issues with the air conditioning and the sink that negatively impacted our stay. • Nightly Parties by Local Sri Lankans: Our stay was significantly disturbed by nightly parties thrown by local Sri Lankans for three consecutive days. The gatherings were loud, with excessive alcohol and music that lasted from evening until early morning, disrupting our sleep. Despite reaching out to the hotel staff for intervention, no effective action was taken to address the noise, which was a major inconvenience.

Choice of food

The staff was absolutely the best part. The manager Gihan is SO helpful and really wants all the best for you. The chef is making delicious sri lankan food and other dishes. All the other was also super friendly. We extended several times. They helped us to arrange tuk tuk and motorbikes. Also they have kayaks. Kitespot just around the lagoon. You might be able to launch the kite from the beach next door. We are going back again later this month :-)

It can feels a little bit dirty, compared to European style. New painting, tools for the bathroom floor and something to hang towel and close on, would do a huge difference. I think some of the other felt more clean. But, we actually liked everything about the stay :-)

We extended our stay for another week because it's very relaxing and peaceful. The view out across the lagoon from bed is magical. Kayaking during sunset and dolphin tour were both really fun and chilling by the pool or hammocks was perfect. Food was delicious made by Fatima and the hotel manager helped us in every way he could. Overall, I am very satisfied I booked during low season (October). 4g dialog worked well for video work meetings. Great spot for digi nomads!

GOOD

The property setting is beautiful on the lagoon. The thing that really set Dinuda apart was the staff. They went above and beyond for our family including organising a surprise 8th birthday party for our son and a leaving party for us. Gihan, Auntie, Uncle and Nuwan were all amazing!

Although the room was clean, it could do with being updated. Having said this the room was comfortable.
