Castaway Beach Bungalows

The bungalow was cute. The bed was comfortable. The sunset was nice, but...

We were really surprised by our experience here, especially given the many positive reviews. The biggest issue was the beach itself. The property is advertised as “beachfront,” and the photos strongly suggest swimmable water directly in front. However, during our stay the tide was consistently out during the day, leaving what was not just a sandbar, but a murky mudflat with no water to swim in. This was very disappointing and not at all what we expected. While we understand tides are natural, this should be communicated more clearly, as the photos are quite misleading. Those we spoke to later who knew the island well all said that Hin Kong is not a swimmable beach because it's too shallow. What ultimately led us to leave early however, was the response from the owner. When we asked about leaving one night early (we had booked three nights and were charged in advance) the response was defensive and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging our concerns or offering suggestions (for example, alternative beaches nearby), we were given a lecture about how tides work and said that his responsibility ends at the property line. He also suggested we wake up at 1:00am to go for a swim when the tide is in. We ended up forfeiting our final night and paying to stay elsewhere. There were other issues such as the hut having a hammock that was unusable because of bad placement, no shade, and a restaurant that didn't include breakfast - I guess because it didn't open until after breakfast. So, in summary, it looks idyllic in the pics but just falls way short, especially for the price. A more positive, customer-focused approach to guest concerns would have significantly improved the experience. This was the only disappointing stay during our time in Thailand.

It was so magical! The place is beautiful and right on the beach with the sandbanks. I was expecting a primitive bungalow but it felt super luxurious. The bed was spacious and the bathroom fully equipped.

Ekte bungalower, direkte på stranden. Rolig sted. Alle bungalowene ligger helt fremme ved stranden. Nydelig plass, fint å rusle tur i nærområdet. Jeg ble tatt veldig godt imot allerede ved innsjekking, og jeg kunnne spørre om hva som helst under oppholdet, og fikk gode råd og tips. Alt var topp. Jeg visste på forhånd at dette stedet tilbyr enkle bungalower, og det var nettopp det jeg ville ha.

Eine Bungalowanlage mit ganz besonderem Vibe: Die ursprünglichen, charmanten Holzbungalows versprühen eine einzigartige Atmosphäre und fügen sich perfekt in die Umgebung ein. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und sauber, mit einem wunderschönen Strand, der zum Entspannen einlädt. Kulinarisch überzeugt vor allem das tolle Restaurant mit einer großen Auswahl an leckeren Speisen, sodass für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist. Ein rundum stimmiger Ort für einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt.
