The view to the birds

Breakfast ended already at 9 AM, which made it difficult to make a full morning birdwatching before breakfast 😢

L'environnement, entre buffles et oiseaux des marais, la quiétude du lieu, le bungalow et les levers du soleil, la gentillesse du staff et la cuisine. Une visite au Mt Phou Asa, une ballade en canoë avec les pêcheurs... Une promenade au lever du jour pour observer nature et oiseaux, le tout organisé depuis le Lodge.

Rien à dire

It was a privilege to stay in this lovely place on the edge of a local village … easy to explore the local area … food all freshly prepared and tasty … try the papaya salad … makes your mouth sing on a hot day . Staff were lovely , always able to help… location overlooking the wetlands was fabulous , not sure who was more surprised in the mornings … us or the water buffalo ! Take the wooden canoe across the wetlands with the local boatmen.

Not a dislike at all but for others it maybe a bit out of the way. We stayed 5 nights and relaxed into the slow pace after Saigon city! Bit of a bumpy and jumpy ride from the main road but short lived and was worth it.

This place is way more upmarket than what I am used to. I am a bicycle traveller and was looking for a place to overnight between Don Det and Pakse rather than ride all of it in one long day. I found Kingfisher Ecolodge on booking.com, I was hot and tired, it was getting late, so I went there. It is truly a paradise in the middle of nowhere. Overlooking a pristine wetland full of birds and wildlife, my huge room was luxurious. Massive bed and big balcony and windows with amazing view. Whisper quiet bungalow set in the forest. I woke to a spectacular sunrise viewed right from my private balcony. Restaurant serves western food for dinner, and breakfast is included. Lovely place.

The shower temperature could not be controlled. Either scalding hot or unheated. Bicycle travellers beware, the road to get there is awful. From the main road it is about 7km on Route 18 to the turnoff to the lodge. This is a dusty gravel nightmare with large trucks throwing up so much dust, sometimes you can't see. Everything gets filthy and you arrive covered in dust. Dust chokes your throat, your nose, your bike, everything. This is the price you pay for the paradise you have when you arrive.

The remoteness of the lodge, surrounded by nature. Recommend highly the canoe trip at sunset. Experiencing full moon rising over the wetland.

The quality of thr food was very low and its price very high with no alternative in the surroundings

Cisza, spokój tego miejsca, dobra restauracja, przemiła obsługa. Organizacja treningu. Niezapomniane wrażenia. Obiekt juz trochę podniszczony, ale to nie odbiera mu uroku.
