Tenuta di Castellaro Winery & Resort

Lets start with the things we enjoyed, the villa was really nice with very comfy bed and lush blankets and pillows and truly had peaceful sleeps. The views of the winery and being nestled at the top of the mountain with the beautiful views of the unlimited vineyards are impeccable, really calming and serene. The outdoor bathtub and bathroom are great too. I Turley booked this stay with the excitement to disconnect and feeling secluded and away from everything on the island, and it did give this feeling. However, we encountered number of disappointments in relation to hospitality and feeling welcomed from the heart and the services offered with an accommodation that is very pricy and away from shops and facilities, check below section. We had dinner at the Osteria, they didnt have vegetarian options but the Chef gladly made us 2 nice pasta dishes and they were nice, the service was a bit slow but we didn't mind as the setup was nice.

At the welcoming, we were offered drinks and asked about our IDs, because I was so tired and had so many luggage I asked if I could send it later that day by Whatsapp, they agreed (which I did send my ID once I arrived the room). After, We were taken to our villa, , when we arrived, the Sea View Villa (they claim all their villas are Seaview on booking.com), it didnt have the claimed living room and & the outdoor terrace had a small dining table with no outdoor seating (the booking we made, it was the 430ft villa with living room and big terrace with poufs), I spoke with the Manager Giuseppe and he agreed to show me the other villa and change the room, which was the one that looked exactly what our booking was & it did have a Living room and a big terrace (but of course no sea view!, however, given we were tired and the place is beautiful, we decided to settle and enjoy the vineyards scenery. Because the poufs were not placed outside, the lady told us the next day in the morning she will prepare the outdoor seating, & the sofa beds to sleep, she told us that she will prepare them the next day! not on the day! The next day comes and the lady put the sheet covers on the sofa expecting us to fill them with the provided pillows and sheets! and she just put 2 poufs and kept asking is this ok? in a tone that she looked bothered to prepare outdoor seating area, since we decided to spend the entire day at the villa to relax! Breakfast: we decided to add the breakfast option which costs 20 per person, and this was a complete scam! we paid 40 very limited options (no bread station!) that definitely not worth the price tag! I spoke with Giuseppe about it. Also, at breakfast, while I am eating, Francesco came to me asking me about my ID, I told him that I sent it but he said in anger voice while my mouth was full of food that no i need to send it now, which I did it, he could ask politely to do so.

Dolce far Niente, great wine, food and company not to mention the sheer beauty of your surroundings.

Our stay at Tenuta di Castellaro was exceptional in every way. The location is awe inspiring, the service impeccable, and the elegant minimalist decor well suited to the majesty of the natural setting. The newly opened restaurant offered innovative and memorable dishes. Barbara and her staff care about the environment, their guests, their land, their wine, their culture and each other. It was truly a magical place to visit.

The accommodation we booked consisted of an independent building in the middle of the vineyard, approximately a 15 minute walk from the main winery. This meant that the silence was exceptional and we enjoyed being woken up by bird song. The accommodation itself was beautifully kitted out, with additional amenities in the bathroom to enhance the stay. The view of the other islands from the patio was one of the highlights, and having small fridge and coffee and tea making facilities a real bonus. Travelling there out of season probably helped to enhance the sense of tranquility, but meant we weren't able to make the most of the outdoor bathtub which must quite the treat during warmer months.

Absolutely beautiful retreat away from everything. Beautifully kept property, amazing staff, very remote but in a good way. Highly recommend. Amazing breakfast. Everything felt very tailored to me. Beautiful wines of course. Special thank you to Barbara who was so helpful throughout my stay.

Only room for improvement would be the option for meals on the property (other than breakfast). Excited to return once there is a restaurant on the property.

The accomodation is super comfortable, stylish and great location. I could recommend the proeprty more!
