Eden House Retreat

Lovely and cosy. Get clean. Went for a girls night my sister and myself just to chill and read books for a night. Perfect setting for both. Yungaburra is a gorgeous little town great shopping for girly stuff and the Eden restaurant was lovely.

The property is in a good location

We had low reception and no access to internet, we asked for replacement dongle to get internet access and when it wasn’t possible I messaged literally just saying we would appreciate a discount on our stay, politely, not demanding it, as I needed to work in the evening on my laptop and there was meant to be wifi provided. The manager then called me 8 times in a row in response to my text, when we finally heard it vibrating and answered we were yelled at that we had to pack up our stuff, that she was 3 minutes away and then hung up on us. She rocked up on our doorstep and we were told we were being taken to another room which turned out to be a completely different hotel next door, told we would have to pay separately for the new room/hotel which was more expensive than the one we had already paid for, we said we didn’t want to leave our room and that I had already told work I wouldn’t be available, we were then told we could take the new hotel or F off, we were then verbally abused, yelling and swearing at us in the carpark for “making” the manager come in to deal with “things that weren’t her problem” when we didn’t demand anything, didn’t ask her to come in, were half expecting her text back no to the discount and didn’t want to leave our room. She had a full mental snap and screamed at us about cooking her kids dinner. I was shaking and crying through the confrontation while she mocked me for having to work on holidays and asked what kind of wife I was to put my husband through that. It was completely unprofessional and honestly a bit scary. We went back the next morning to ask for our stay to be refunded and were gaslit by the owner who clearly got a different version of the story. Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had in my travels.

The hairdryer. Attached to wall, and in a highly inconvenient spot. Restaurant not open during our visit.
