Rocky resort

Location right at the sea. We could swim to the turtles. The best time is to see them from the Rocky resort at 3-4pm.

The staff are AMAZING nothing is too much trouble

Little hike to get up and down from the ground level to the resort. However the location is situated in paradise so it's well worth the effort!

Stayed 2 weeks...too long as we didn't hire a motorbike because roads outside resort so steep and treacherous...very confined to Rocky's for eating....high prices, small portions...very poor menu...water very expensive...80 baht per bottle...they also charge for ice! Poor Internet in room...felt like we were being fleeced.

Let’s start from the fact it was dirty an moldy, like no one cleaned it before our arrival. The towels were also dirty and full of ants. There is no hot water. The resort is located on a construction site. It is not possible to leave there, we had to evacuate from the place to another one the next day because this place is beyond uncomfortable. The place stinks, the mantras is rotten. It’s just a scum to charge people money for it. When we were checking out they lost our paperwork and wanted to charge us money again even though we already payed before check-in. Luckily wee did double check through the app and showed them, so they stopped trying to scum us even more.

Great location. We had a scooter so we enjoyed the hilly way there everytime we drove to or from the accommodation when we explored the island. Shark bay is directly a few steps below the resort. The beach has powder sand and a few meters out, is the snorkeling / diving spot. We saw turtles 🐢 Friendly and helpful staff. We rented a stand up paddle from them as well. Restaurant has nice options and nice view. Regarding our room, we thought something was wrong with the air condition, and asked the staff about it the next morning. We found out we didn't set the correct settings in the remote the first night. They adjusted the settings, and for the inconvenience, they offered us one free breakfast each (food and drinks) which was very nice. Air-condition was working fine the next days. Amazing view from the room terrace! Would have been nice to have a fridge to cool drinks and fruits in the room but anyway, the resort already has a restaurant below with cold beer, shakes etc too. So we ordered coffee / beers from the restaurant and we just brought it up to our terrace on some occasions. With a scooter, the location of Rocky Resort was great. 15 mins to the pier, and 10-20 mins to the east coast beaches like Tanote Bay. We woke up early and drove to Tanote Bay to see the sunrise and "cliff jump" from the rock. Around 5 mins drive, are a couple of streets with a lot of local restaurants, food stalls, convenience stores, fruit shake stalls. A really rice viewpoint is also just around 8 mins drive and a very short hike up. It's beautiful! We went there twice since it was so near too We enjoyed our stay very much!

There are steep stairs to the hotel, the beach and to the hotel's restaurant. It may be more difficult for older people. The stairs path from where the parking to the hotel down, is pretty dark and not well lit. We had flashlights to look at our steps better. There's a hand rail on one side. It wasn't difficult, but it could be dangerous if you don't watch your step at night. We had a bike with us so it was fine (driving to activities, other places and shops etc). I'm not sure how inconvenient it would have been without it, or how much / easy / difficult it is to get some kind of cheap way to the town.

The view was great, the staff very nice and the bungalow was super cute

We had rats in our bungalow and heard them at night walking around the gap between the wall and the roof and in the morning we heard them squeaking. They even ate our pot noodles and there was rat poo all over, so it wasn't only super unhygenic but also horrible to sleep with. It literally felt like they were going to walk over us. The first day was great when we saw the view and the cute bungalow until we realised what was going on... not worth paying to sleep with rats. Also there wasn't hot water although that didn't really bother us as it's hot.
