South Pacific Memories

Peter and Anne were so accommodating from tbe moment we walked in. The ladies in the kitchen were beautiful with exceptional service.

We spent 6 nights at South Pacific Memories following a two week sailing and scuba diving cruise to various islands of Vanuatu. With only 4 bungalows SPM is a cozy place far enough away from Port Vila for a perfectly relaxing holiday. Nothing much to do out there except for chilling in the shade of the wonderful trees or on the coral beach or swimming in front of the resort (which exactly was what we were looking for). Did a couple of dives with on site PADI dive shop including a (highly recommended) night dive. Lots of small fish in big variety but not much coral due to a Crown of Thorn invasion in 2017. But it seems that the coral are growing again. Very family type and relaxed atmosphere with wonderful hosts Anne & Petter (Norwegian). We enjoyed the tapas style lunch every day and the excellent dinner six days a week (no dinner on Mondays). Highly recommended boutique resort for those looking for tranquility and relaxation (or have a rent-car…Port Vila is a 30 min drive only).

The place was beautiful, relaxed and away from everything. Lovely hosts. Coral right out front with kayaks to get around. Only thing that could be improved was the small portion sizes at dinner!

My partner and I had the most incredible stay here for 5 nights. The whole place is absolutely beautiful, the gardens, dining areas, pool and walkways are all so well looked after. We were actually surprised by how spacious it felt. With only four bungalows spread out across the property, each with its own lovely garden space, it never felt crowded. They easily could have fit more, but the choice to keep it small and peaceful really made a difference. Anne and Petter were absolutely lovely, so welcoming and accommodating, and they really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Laura and Ed were also fantastic, full of great advice for things to do, and all the other staff were equally helpful and friendly. The food was beautiful, with so much care put into using fresh local produce meaning every meal felt really special. And having the beach literally out the front was perfect. The reef starts just meters off the shore, and the amount of marine life right there was amazing with so many fish and corals, and all the snorkeling gear was provided (and really good quality too). As keen snorkelers, having such easy access to the reef was a huge highlight. We also loved being just outside of town — far enough to be peaceful and quiet, but still only a quick bike ride or bus trip into town when we wanted. We honestly couldn’t recommend this place more, and would love to come back one day!

Beautifully designed accommodation with an ideal spot on the reef

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at South Pacific Memories. Everything is thoughtfully and beautifully designed from the buildings and interiors to the meals and welcome messages. Our room/villa was clean and comfortable and it was great to be able to sit up on our rooftop deck for a sunset drink. Anne and Petter are wonderful hosts and their staff are helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and we especially enjoyed our lap lap dinner at Lesha's place. The snorkelling is amazing. You simply walk into the water (don't forget your reef shoes) a short distance (a bit further at low tide) and start to see beautiful fish. I had done a lot of research to find out that South Pacific Memories would be a great place for off the beach snorkelling and I wasn't disappointed.

South Pacific Memories is a bit isolated but we embraced the opportunity to do very little other than snorkel, read, and eat delicious food. But if that isn't what you like, you can easily walk to Pacific Cove Resort for a change of scenery, catch a bus around to Breakers, or catch a bus into Port Vila. You can also hire a car during your stay so that you can travel around Efate.
