Calthwaite Hall Lodges

loved the whole thing, beautiful place, loads of peacocks and ponies onsite, the Nosh restaurant is outstanding, food was just amazing, place spotless, staff lovely and super friendly and welcoming. we had a fabulous time here. didn't expect it to be so good and great value for money and felt very safe and lovely for kids. we will definitely be back.

Only bit I would change was you only get one toilet roll per bathroom and you pay for towels, in a hot tub lodge which is new for me, so be organised with your preparations as we were caught short which the site did help us with until we could get to the shops, as Shops are also a bit far ie 15 / 20 mins, so come prepared. But I would HIGHLY recommend.

This location was quiet and perfect for couples and young family's. It was clean and spacious. We loved the location! It was perfect to access the lakes

The hot tub was broken

Fabulous, lovely location and great food at the Globe Inn,Peacocks were roaming around and seemed friendly Hot tub was a nice relaxing treat after Ullswater.

Lovely location, set back. Safe environment for our three year old. Staff very attentive at the pub/restaurant. The best Sunday dinner I’ve had for a long time, roast beef was ‘melt in the mouth’ exceptional. Great local lager and choice of other beverages. Three peacocks live there which are very friendly and came to see us both mornings. Also some Falabella ponies which were a short walk on the estate to see and pet over the fence. Lodge lovely, generally well equipped, good size fridge and freezer. Beds comfortable. Two bathrooms, good size lounge, nice and cosy. TV in the bedroom was a plus, hot tub outside, shown how to use on arrival, fab. Not far from town of Penrith or Carlisle city. Lots to do not far away ie lakes, but we had poor weather, which was matter-less to us really. Nice touch having biscuits, tea bags etc left out for us. Also dish washer tablets and fairy which was good.

Couple of things which we noticed. Towels not provided, I did read prior to arrival that there was a fee to pay if you wanted towels provided, we took our own so wasn’t much of an issue. A refundable damages deposit has to be paid on arrival, which I hadn’t read about, maybes in the small print. Hair drier didn’t work. Some things a little worn, eg radiators a little rusty in bathroom which had leaked onto floor. Door in and out of lodge very difficult to lock and open. There was a ?leak meaning the boiler pressure kept dropping. A gent from the estate came and apologised for this when he came to check it, it wasn’t really an issue and it was getting looked at after our departure. The main bedroom was directly next to the hot tub outside which was particularly noisey overnight.

We stayed in one of the micro cabins. Must admit, when I saw it I thought it was going to be too small, but it had everything we needed for our stay and we loved the place. We had beautiful views and lots of space around the cabin. The hot tub was an added bonus and we used it everyday. We were visited by 2 beautiful peacocks throughout our stay. The local pub, The Globe was really lovely. The food was extremely good, staff were friendly and very helpful, nice beer garden at the back. We were there for one of the nights when they had a pub quiz and it was great fun. We would highly recommend Calthwaite Lodges and The Globe.

The lodge we stayed in was well equipped. The meals & staff at the globe were excellent

The hot tub shed could be doing with a paint as the wood was green and needing tlc. The nearest shop is 5+ miles so bring basic essentials.
