Eco Hotel Bosque Encantado

There was a mixup in my reservation i asked for a room with a bed and i didn’t read everything after i booked it was a tent but did ask for a room and the policy is no refund 7 days prior but i booked the night before how can i cancel 7 days in advance anyway they charged half

The complex was nice, we were the only guest there so it was very quiet if you do not mind roosters and dogs. Prawn spagetti were excellent and very generous portion. The kitchen staff was nice and they were all good cooks. We did not mind the power outage during the day (you do not need that), shower with very weak pressure and toilet that was necessary to flush with a bucket, that is part of the experience. Personal hammock in front of the cabin was nice (maybe wash them more often, they smell of a bat poo). Sheets and linen were clean, bin and fan was provided, you do not really need more. Wifi was okay, not strong.

The island generally including this accomodation is expensive but that is expected so if you can bring snack, small shops have very limited goods. The cabin is really alive, some bigger animal (bat or rat) felt on my back during night. The guy who was checking us in was a huge disppointment. We felt like walking wallet, seemed like all he cared about was money. He tried to offer us tours but we were super hot and exhausted and he offered sale if we buy all the island activities in a package right now. Eventually we decided for the plankton tour (enclosing photo from the prospects) so we paid half of the final price and expected a 1.5 hour canoe trip to a lagoon in english with diving mask provided and what we got? A joke - the guy and his girlfriend obviously bored walked us 150 metres to a lagoon and they instructed us to get in the water - it was dark and we had no idea what is in there, we got in excited to see the plankton - they left us trying for a while with no result watching video on their phone and when we got out he told us the moon is too bright to see the plankton (he did not know that before?!) and we walked back, all done in less than 30 minutes. Terrible! For this he asked 60 000 COP per person! He told us we will go next day again but the next day completely ignored us so we of course went ourselves and the plankton was there so guys go by yourself, do not pay for this scam especially when you live next to the lagoon!

Great location, 3 min walk to a very quiet yet beautiful beach. Kind and helpful staff. Edgar and his family were really nice giving all the useful information and made us feel at easy. Highly recommended

The shower was not always working, which was not a problem as they provided big tanks with water, when needed. After all, it's an island with water shortage problem (bare that in mind when you go!)

Staff were nice and tried to accommodate any needs we had and the food was really great.

Expensive for what you get, which is a tin roof over your head that heats your room up a lot. Nothing really anything to do there on the property. Electricity is off from 8am to 6pm. Wifi was weak.

Nice and friendly family that is owning the hotel. They organized a special transport back to Cartagena for us because we needed to leave earlier than the normal tourist transport. The food in the hostel was okay, on the second evening we tried another hostel nearby for dinner which was of similar quality.

We were a bit disappointed when we reached the hotel. We have expected more based on the reviews we read. The hotel is very basic. There is only a curtain seperating the bathroom from the bedroom. The toilet flush only works with a bucket of water. Overall there were quite a few tiny animals in the room and the room and above bathroom is not very clean. There was a mosquito net but in fact we could not use it because there was no proper installation so with opening the mosquito net the space of the bed not touching the net was very limited. Besides that, we were woken up several times during the night by street dogs barking and fighting for several minutes.

The staff was welcoming and helpful when we arrived. They offered to us to use the common bathroom to take a shower since we arrived before the check-in time. The food we ordered at the restaurant for dinner was very good, as well as the breakfast, which was included in the price. The outside area around the small houses is very peaceful and green, perfect to relax and enjoy some time away from the heat and sun. The snorkeling activity we have additionally joined was amazing. The fan in the room is very silent.

The nearest room was noisy and since the rooftop is in common, it was not easy to sleep properly. The walls and the mosquito net above the bed were dirty. The shower flooded after the first shower we had.
