Dat het verschil tussen de luxe en de lokale mensen erg groot is en dat dat direct tegen alle hotels was. Je moet eerstdoor een relatief arme wijk om bij het hotel te komen.

Belvedere hotel is a really nice and peaceful place, with a very kind and welcoming staff. My room was spacious and confortable, nicely decorated, the bed was huge, i even had a kettle and a mini fridge, everything was perfect. And some days, when the humidity was high, having air con was a plus. The sea is just in front and you can see it from the swimming pool, well appreciated when the tide is low. Breakfast was very good and generous - coffee or tea, eggs as you like, toasts with butter and jam, pancakes, fresh fruits, yogurt with fresh mango and passion fruit : a good way to start your day ! This is my second visit to Zanzibar, and as someone who has previously stayed in Jambiani, I can say that Belvedere Hotel has a well-maintained garden and rooms, just as shown in the photos. I can also say that there is a team working well in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, which is the best—and perhaps the only good—aspect of the property.

Unfortunately, the property has very serious management problems when it comes to hospitality. The staff come across as extremely cold, rigid, and completely unwilling to help with anything. You will realize by the second day that this is not an individual staff issue, but a management style problem. Guest relations at the property are practically non-existent. The staff work only for the facility itself; none of the guests’ problems or needs are actually addressed. We also discussed this with other guests at the hotel, and they said they felt exactly the same way. They strongly discourage you from spending money outside the property and constantly emphasize that life outside the resort is dangerous, which I can honestly say is completely untrue. There are very good restaurants nearby, for example. At one point, we needed sunscreen. The only option was a small local market nearby, but they did not accept dollars. We asked the hotel to exchange 100 USD, and they refused. In a resort of this size, refusing to exchange money feels intentional. Because of this, we were unable to buy sunscreen. Despite booking a bungalow, we were given a different room. When we said this was not the room we had booked, the response was along the lines of “we decide that”, which was quite shocking. The food is bad, the breakfast is poor, and the coffee is cold. At breakfast, I asked for one more passion fruit and was refused—why? No one could explain. The small cafés on the beach close at 9 p.m. After that, you cannot get a drink—not even water. When I asked if this wasn’t too early, I was told, “We also have homes to go to.” Interesting, to say the least. I understand wanting to keep things organized, but you cannot do this like a police officer or a prison guard. This is a place people travel to with 10 hours of flying plus a 2-hour taxi ride. Without a smile or basic warmth in return, none of it has any meaning. Guest satisfaction: zero, zero, zero.

Belvedere Resort is truly heaven on earth. The ocean views from the room are absolutely breathtaking — waking up to that every morning felt unreal. The atmosphere is private, peaceful, and beautifully boutique, making it the perfect place to escape and fully unwind. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable — plenty of space to relax and enjoy your stay. Housekeeping is done properly, and the housekeeping team pays great attention to detail — the cleaning is thorough, and the rooms are always perfectly refreshed. The pool is everything you dream of — big, well-maintained, and with a stunning ocean view that never gets old. The staff are wonderful, warm, helpful, and truly make you feel taken care of. Honestly, I can’t say a single bad thing about this place. I would come back in a heartbeat — without hesitation.

Il ristorante é molto buono ed il personale gentile, consiglierei però di variare il menú a colazione. Invece a pranzo e cena é molto vario.

Il bagno esterno necessita di piccoli interventi di manutenzione.
