The Compass Rose Ubud

Super mindful and professional staff. They welcomed me warmly and took care of me super well which made my stay absolutely pleasant. The rooms have a view I to the lush and peaceful garden.

As many reviews already say, those guys are doing so great with the hospitality service. They are kind and attentive absolutely all the time, one of the best services I've ever had. We felt special and was a great way to start the trip. Our room was comfortable, the balcony made a big difference and felt super private. We also enjoyed some time by the pool, and breakfast was simple but did the job (loved the banana pancakes). Would definitely come back if ever in Ubud again.

It's a bit far form the center and most touristic things - it didn't impact us, but would be good for you to know. The dinner menu can be improved, while they offer quite a few options, the food felt like coming from a box from the supermarket. This is mainly to hoe you guys improve that part of the offerings. Would also highly recommend to put the menus in the room, so guests know you have dinner available.

Провели тут классную неделю: в отеле прекраснейший персонал, который реагировал на все наши просьбы максимально дружелюбно и сделал наш отдых комфортнее. Теплый бассейн, зеленая территория и очень тихо. Хорошие вкусные завтраки, пусть и одинаковые (это не шведский стол). Мы несколько раз использовали услугу стирки: утром с номера забирали вещи, к вечеру чистенькое, свежее и аккуратно сложенное забирали с ресепшена (услуга стоит копейки!) Но будьте готовы к тому, что это тропики и в вашем номере обязательно будет кто-то, кроме вас (у нас жил миленький гикончик, но это даже хорошо, потому что он боролся с остальной маленький живностью) в Убуде, в целом, очень сыро и поэтому живность (Жучки, паучки, муравьи) будут в любом отеле.

We were looking for a more sheltered place to stay during our trip, without feeling completely cut off, and The Compass Rose fit that balance well. Reaching it involves leaving the main road from Ubud and passing through a small village area that feels more rugged and less touristy than the usual hotspots. When we arrived, the local authorities were resurfacing the road, which occasionally made access a bit tricky, but once completed, it was clearly a welcome improvement. The property sits at the very end of the road, close to the dense forested area around Ubud. As a result, there isn’t much nearby in terms of bars or restaurants, but that also adds to the sense of calm. I did visit the nearby Eco Petulu bird sanctuary, which was mostly a heartening experience. Of all the places we stayed at, The Compass Rose had the friendliest and most accommodating staff. They were attentive to our partly vegan breakfast needs, and when my partner fell ill with the flu, she received genuine care, including hot tea and regular check-ins. Breakfast was good for the price, even if not especially varied. The room itself was on the smaller side but functional, with a bathroom almost as large as the bedroom. What really stood out was the atmosphere: uninterrupted views of nature, deep off-season quiet, and the simple pleasure of sitting on the terrace listening to the rain, which was incredibly soothing. We also had a gecko visit—less polite than our previous encounter, but ultimately a peaceful coexistence.

Cleanliness could be improved and the AC seemed like it was giving its dying breath. The bathroom had a distinctively humid smell, which partly lifted after a few days. The pathways around the hotel get soaked with standing water when it rains, but I doubt there's much that can be done about this.

Finally a very quiet hotel in ubud. And at a decent price too. Clean and no smell in the bathroom or any other issue. I've tried many hotels and Airbnbs in Ubud and this was the best by far. Thank you!

Staff could be slightly more quiet in the morning. But they were excellent overall.

Villa’s bedroom and bathroom are both made of good wood. Staff were all friendly, helpful, and quite fluent in English. Breakfast was quite filling and decent.

Dental kits were not replenished. Also, towels other than bath towels were not replenished for 1 of the night I stayed there.

Staff is very friendly and helpful! They helped me prepare my mum’s birthday and made it unforgettable, we are so thankful, we felt like home.
