A warm welcome from our lovely host Amali in this little jungle pad just outside Ella - a short cheap tuk tuk ride into central Ella. Great value for money, thank you 😊 🙏

Die Wohnung liegt angenehm ausserhalb des Zentrums, mitten im Grünen wilden Wald. Das Dorf ist aber gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Wir genossen die schöne Aussicht von der Terrasse sehr. Amali ist eine sehr liebevolle und aufmerksame Gastgeberin. Ella war uns ein wenig zu touristisch, die Gegend ist aber schön, und wir würden auf jeden Fall die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.

Nicht ganz einfach für Vans erreichbar, aber ein Tuktuk wurde prompt organisiert

Aufgrund der vielen guten Bewertungen sind wir voller Vorfreude an dieser Unterkunft angekommen und wurden nett von der Gastgeberin empfangen. Diese stand uns auch direkt mit Tipps für Unternehmungen zur Seite. Leider hat das Zimmer den positiven ersten Eindruck nicht bestätigen können. Als wir das Zimmer betraten, roch es intensiv nach Schimmel. Zudem war das Zimmer dreckig. Die Bettdecke war leicht feucht und wies Flecken auf, an den Wänden und auf dem Boden befanden sich alte verstorbene Insekten, das Badezimmer befand sich in keinem guten Zustand und war nicht sauber. Wir haben unseren geplanten Aufenthalt nach einer Nacht vorzeitig abgebrochen, da wir von dem Schimmelgeruch Kopfschmerzen bekamen. Die Gastgeberin hat uns die zweite Nacht nicht in Rechnung gestellt. Dies war leider die schlechteste Unterkunft auf unserer Rundreise durch Sri Lanka.

The host was extremely kind and made a real effort to ensure we had a great experience. She regularly checked if we had any special wishes for breakfast and gave us excellent tips for exploring Ella – even beyond what we had already researched. You can also easily organize transport and activities through her. The location is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a beautiful view during breakfast. It’s about a 15-minute walk to town, including a short but steep path, which can be a bit tiring in the heat, but still manageable. The room itself was well ventilated and mostly well sealed, with a mosquito net and adjustable fans (no AC, but it cools down at night). Breakfast was good, though fairly standard compared to other places in Sri Lanka. The Wi-Fi was unfortunately very inconsistent and often not usable, so we had to rely on mobile data. However, this seems to be a more general issue we experienced in several accommodations in Sri Lanka rather than something specific to this place. Overall, a lovely and authentic stay in nature with a very caring host – definitely recommended!

Since the accommodation is very close to the jungle, it can get quite noisy, especially at night with birds and other animals. Early in the morning, birds hitting the windows woke us up a few times, which was a bit disturbing, although the host is already working on fixing this. We also had a small issue with geckos entering through a gap in a window, but this was addressed immediately the same evening.

Incredible stay in the most beautiful location! Honestly I couldn't say more good things about this place! Everything was incredible - the wonderful, sweetest hosts, the delicious breakfast, the clean room with a gorgeous balcony and view!! Highly highly recommend staying here when you're in Ella! Thank you!

Amazing stay in the mountain The room was super comfy and clean and we had a beautiful balcony with view on the mountain and lots of wild life to observe in the morning ☺️ The person there was adorable and very helpful. She prepared us a beautiful breakfast and helped us in anything we needed A bit away from the city so very quiet but easily accessible with a Tuktuk or a bit of walking I would definitely come back there for another stay in Ella 🤎
