"Magical place, wonderful staff, terrible beds!"

8.0

Our stay was overall a magical experience. The caves are simply awe-inspiring, and the staff could not have been nicer. Definitely well worth paying for the tour of the caves, to learn about the history, AND make sure you can find your way out again...:-). The food (a dinner and a breakfast) was also excellent. We were lucky enough to stay while they had a volunteer translator available, which made everything a LOT easier since our Spanish is very limited.

The cabin itself was nice, but the bed was pretty much god-awful. In our two weeks exploring the region, this was by far the worst bed and pillows we encountered. I realize double beds are much more common in Mexico than queen or king...but we are two large North Americans, and we simply did not fit well at all in the double bed. But it's not just that it was a double bed...it was very hard and felt like it had a 'peak' in the middle...both of us were struggling not to fall out of bed, all night. The pillows were so flimsy it felt like using a hand towel. So yeah, we had a terrible sleep, entirely because of the bed. They really, really need to upgrade the beds.
