KAMAKU Bungalows - Sunset Beach

We received a warm welcome from Maria, who provided all the necessary information at the beginning, which we really appreciated. The shared showers and toilets were sufficiently clean and provided a good level of privacy. The setting itself also has potential, especially with hammocks in front of the cabins, which create a nice atmosphere (although not always usable during the day due to the sun).

Unfortunately, the overall experience did not quite live up to expectations. The accommodation itself was very basic. The hammocks, while a nice idea, could not really be used until around 3 pm because of the intense sun. We also had several disappointing experiences with the food and service. My mother ordered a tuna baguette, which was very poor considering the price. On another occasion, we ordered coffee and were asked if we wanted sugar. We said no, but the coffee was served already sweetened. We also tried to order a local dessert. The waitress confirmed it was available, but after waiting, we were first told it would take longer because they needed an extra ingredient, and shortly after that, we were informed that the dessert was not available at all. Overall, the customer service felt disorganized and disappointing. We also noticed that many guests chose to eat elsewhere, as not everyone wants to eat exclusively Spanish cuisine while in Cambodia. In the end, we preferred going to eat on the other side of the beach at Robinson, where the food was excellent and reasonably priced – easily the highlight of our stay.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and the location is out of this world. I had a wonderful time here and could not recommend it enough!

What Julia and Oscar have created here is as close to paradise as you will find. Everything thought through. But in a way you don’t notice. The staff were all friendly helpful and involved. The food was on a whole other level. Coming from Barcelona the menu is Spanish. But boy was it delicious. Quite how they create such perfect paella, tapas and bocadillos on this tiny island is a miracle in itself. The whole place is an oasis of calm with beautiful clear waters to make full use of the free snorkels and see all the fishes around the bay. The cocktails as good as any you will find in the world (and a happy hour). We stayed in a bungalow with a beautifully crafted thatched vaulted ceiling and a door opening onto a terrace and the beach. We were instantly made to feel at home and welcome. The vibes rippled through everyone that stayed here. There are paddle boards available at neighbouring resorts and they encourage you to visit the other restaurants on the beach for different menus.

De locatie is absoluut prachtig, een hele goede plek om tot rust te kunnen komen. Het is kleinschalig maar heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. Door het kleinschalige voel je ook echt de rust. Het resort heeft veel keuze aan eten en er zijn snorkels die je kan lenen. De zee en het strand zijn mooi, veel mooier dan de andere (makkelijker te bereiken) kant van het eiland. De jungletocht was een uitdaging maar ook een leuke ervaring. (Als je ouder of niet fit bent is het echter niet aan te raden, neem dan de boot.) De ventilatoren zijn fijn en werken goed genoeg om snachts koel te blijven. Wees wel bereid om je kamer te delen, waar er sowieso gekko’s bij je zullen verblijven, je bent echt één met de natuur.

Sommig personeel mag wel iets aardiger/minder geïrriteerd doen (geldt niet voor allemaal, sommige waren dan wel weer heel aardig) Helaas beide tijdens dit verblijf last gehad van buikklachten en bedwants beten opgelopen. De hoeveelheid muggen, maar dat hoort nou eenmaal bij de jungle. Het verblijf zou bijvoorbeeld wel muggenspray kunnen aanbieden. Het resort zou wat meer aandacht kunnen besteden aan het aangespoelde plastic rondom de rotsen.

Stunningly beautiful beach, fantastic staff. Just overpriced for small older bungalow with a pretty long walk to bathroom and showers that were shared with the entire property 😒

La vue est incroyable et la décoration est faite avec gout mais à plus de 100€ la nuit , je trouve que certains points peuvent être amélioré

Un peu cher pour la qualité de la prestation

Loved the location. I knew before coming here it would be remote and quiet and that's exactly what I craved. My bungalow was simple, but I think if you know before you come thats not an issue. Food was good, there is also other options on the beach of you want to change it up. It's a bit more expensive on the island but that's to be expected. Bathrooms were ok and clean.

Staff seemed a little distant. Some really tried to avoid talking to the guests wherever possible. (The owners were nice)
