Alice & Elvis, Crescent Head, Retro Caravans with Deck, Bathroom & Outdoor Bath in a Bush Setting near the Beach

Lovely little stay in CH for a nearby wedding, perfect for our purposes!

We had a quick visit to Crescent Head and the accommodation was cute with an outdoor bathtub. Loved the fairy lights at night. Location was easy to find which had garden lights as we checked in super late. Hosts were friendly, communicative and accommodating.

not much to like. not so much a retro caravan named Alice as simply a very expensive caravan. yes the bath is nice but close to $200 a night for a caravan parked in someone''s front yard? dont think its justified. Also close to a road so location is nothing special.

Cute retro setup. * Excellent bathroom facilities: Roomy with lavish vanity; clean, odourless eco composting toilet; open decking and screened louvre windows. Outside bathtub to observe the wallaby mob hop through of an evening. * Excellent cooking facilities: huge stainless outdoor kitchen with multiple burners, sink. * Private: red van is only booked if you need extra beds for your group. You have your own treed space in the property well away from the other house. * Dog-friendly!: surrounding long grass is cleared all around the van with shady trees to chew a bone under or hang out on the verandah with the family. Our well-behaved kelpie was allowed inside on her own bed. Four off-leash (o/l) beaches nearby: Back Beach (approx 10-15min walk up the road) o/l north of the access track. Beautiful Delicate and Big Hill beaches (approx 10-15min drive south). Killick Beach, just north of the lovely lagoon in town. Walk across the bridge and a little way up the beach on-lead then there is an o/l sign to indicate where that zone starts. Minnie says: ‘best holiday ever! Thanks guys’.

We loved our visit but positive feedback to help others plan their stay might be: * verandah is un-fenced and road (not too busy and koala-friendly speed limit) is not too far away from vans so if your dog is a wanderer or has poor recall, perhaps take a long rope. Don’t forget your tick treatment. * v. soft double bed so if disturbing your partner with tosses and turns is an issue (we’re old and arthritic 😬), take a spare single sheet set for the comfy firm couch. * it’s a natural setting so that’s just part of the deal but mosies are out in force, so keep the verandah screen doors closed at all times (don’t forget you can seperate the van screen doors from the solid doors to let more air in the van). Coils and aerogard are provided by owners but take any other defences you desire. * Didn’t bother us but if you wanted some bath tub privacy from others in your group, perhaps take a travel clothes line and hang some towels.

We like quirky accommodation and Alice was a lovely example. In a bush setting but handy for Crescent Head and beaches. So much attention to detail by the owner including mozzy spray and candles etc. Comfortable and clean. Love the bathroom though the toilet still gets wet when you have a shower!! (See review in 2023) Excellent communication before we arrived.

In previous reviews we have noticed that negative comments elicit an aggressive response from the owner (who we never saw), but that is what reviews are for. We felt that the kitchen equipment, both indoors and especially outside, needs replacing. As a paying guest I would expect some decent pans to cook with.
