Beautiful, Secluded Shepherd's Hut in the National Park

This place is a one-off - nestled at the top of a meadow, well away from everything and with complete privacy. The hut is lovely, with a large double bed that was very comfortable. The outdoor kitchen, shower and toilet worked perfectly, though those not familiar with a composting toilet will have a small learning curve! The host kindly left us eggs, blueberries and marshmallows for toasting, very kind! It was a proper getaway, and sitting next to the fire and watching the stars at night was a fantastic experience.

Some of the outdoor furniture is getting slightly rickety and will need replacing soonish - for instance, the arm on one of the chairs was loose. However, it does go with the handmade character of the place, so we didn't mind.

We were fortunate to enjoy a lovely summer day during our one-night stay in early August 2025. This rural retreat is a hidden gem, peacefully tucked away in the countryside, yet easy to find with the host’s clear instructions and sat nav. Have faith and head all the way down Sandy Lane. The hut is beautifully designed, combining rural charm with modern comfort in a thoughtful layout. Communication with the host, Alice, was excellent throughout, and it was a pleasure to meet her in person at checkout. She’s just as lovely as her messages. Don’t hesitate, book and enjoy this serene escape!

Location is brilliant, far away from everyone

It would be great to have more space to run, play as the field is large but not accessible

The location is lovely - so peaceful and secluded. The hut is really comfortable and the kitchen and “bathroom” area really quirky and unique, but really well thought out with everything you need.
