Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay

My wife and I, along with a group of six other couples, have visited Sun Outdoors Chula Vista RV Resort 6-8 times since it opened. We appreciate the friendly staff, nice pool, restaurant/bar setup, and the location is quite convenient. However, there is a notable downside. With over 240 sites, the resort has only one trash drop-off location. If you’re not lucky enough to secure a site near the pool or bay-front, disposing of your trash at the other side of the resort can be a real hassle. Unfortunately, when we inquired about curbside trash pick-up services—something many RV resorts offer—the staff didn’t have any answers. Overall, while we enjoy our time there, addressing the trash disposal issue would improve the experience for guests - 5-star resort if they figure this out

Well the only nice thing about this place is the club house. The prices are too frigging expensive for a campground that is nowhere near the water and is not in a prime location. None of the sites have shade. $175 per night for a standard pull thru????? plus $45 resort fee? Noy worth it.

This property is amazing! The pictures are exactly what you get. Clean, fun, family friendly. Best time ever!

It was very nice only issue was that it smelled like sewage at night not sure why

Cottage could do with a mop

We have been visiting this RV park for a few years now and always stay in the cabins. Unfortunately the cleaners do a terrible job and the floors are extremely dirty and so is the deck. At almost $500 a night one expects to check into a clean cabin. I believe a surface cleaning is done very quickly before the next occupants arrive. It’s a very dog friendly park and most of the casitas have dogs staying in them. There needs to be more of an effort in cleaning and disinfecting the cabin. The sheets are of very low quality and the bedding covers extremely thin and somewhat rough. We bring our own comforter. The trash bags provided are super thin and always tear before you reach the main area to dispose of trash. Maintenance needs to be done on fans, cooktops and the fridge. The cabins need better amenities. A checklist is needed to replace Broken glasses, missing cutlery and utensils from previous users.

I wish I could review this establishment like we did years ago when it first opened, but unfortunately, we had a completely different experience and lack of care this time. First time staying in a cabin. We called the day before to request an early check in, told to call back the day or check in. Called back in the morning and were told that we were on a list. We drove in a couple of hours later in the afternoon to ask if it was then possible to check in. I was told the cabin was still not ready. This was at 1pm. We had our pet, so we walked around and could see that 80% of the cabins were empty and cleaned. Came back another hour later to ask again, told once again we could not check in early even though we had watched others check in ahead of us. We were prepared to pay the check-in early fee and have been coming to this resort for years. At over $350 a night and check out at 11 a.m., I would expect that you could at least check in by 2 pm, but that is not the case. Combined with rude front office staff, I will not come back again, which is a shame as we had told many people about this resort from our prior visits, but there are much better options on the coast where kindness is free and rates are much better.

I like whole idea about this place. It’s nose place to stay with family and friends. Large pool , playground, everything was good. The cottage was nice.

There is no room cleaning service, clean towels by request, but you need to wait 3 hours to get front desk to connect with you, because they are busy. Our living room tv and dishwasher not worked, contacted few times with front desk but our problem wasn’t resolved. The cushions at the patios were really dirty.

We recently stayed in one of the rentals. The place is amazing, the food, amenities and the staff is great. Always with a smile. Everything seems to be well organized, with different activities throughout the day. Definitely would recommend this resort, especially for a family get together.
