Blackstairs Shepherds Huts

The concept, i.e. nature combined with comfort well done: Comfortable and very cosy huts (incl. heating!), good facilities for washing and meeting up in evening even in (as our case) wet weather. Lovely breakfast with homemade fresh bread and jams, fresh fruit, and other nice selection of cereals and cheeses. Friendly welcoming host. Beautiful grounds and overall area. Well thought through concept, e.g. provision of lights and umbrellas for walking from huts to toilet facilities, charging point for EV car, lots of information on area, things to do etc.

Not really disliked, but here are some ideas for small improvements that I think would make a big difference: We shared the huts as friends. A single duvet narrow double bed is a bit of a challenge both in terms of width of bed and length (very tall people, beware :), I was just about okay at 180 cm height!). Two single duvets would be better if 2 people share, or else maybe each hut is really best for use by single single people or sharing couples or sharing children. The bathrooms were large, clean and fine overall. A shower curtain to minimise splashing and some shelves to put up one toiletries while washing/showering would be a welcome addition.

I've always wanted to stay in a shepherd's hut and this was so peaceful and the bed so comfy. The grounds were gorgeous. Mary and Robert are knowledgeable and keep a lovely property. Their breakfast spread (with fresh baked bread!) is the best we've had in Ireland! The grounds were peaceful. I'd move in if I could!
