Azul del Mar

The place is clean, comfortable and has a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The garden is very beautiful and well kept and the varandas in the entrance and in the suite were very nice to chill after trails and boat rides. The room was spatious, beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped for light meals and the kitchenware was always very clean. The hot water is very hot, the shower was very good and they use clean energy to power. The air conditioner also was a lifesaver as it can get very hot in the island. The staff was friendly and both self-check-in and checkout went smoothly. Towels were swapt almost daily which was also very good because the island is very humid and they do not dry easily.

No major complaints, just a few nuisances. The barbecue was restricted and I don't remember reading that in the listing. That complicated our plans for the Holidays Meals a little bit, as the restaurants on the island do not work with reservations. But we managed with the kitchen. The common area was also crowded in some occasions by the people in the private property at the back, either because someone was working and holding meetings there or because there was a large family gathering in the barbecue area. The hostel to the side is very noisy, so, despite the silence rule after 10 PM, if you're a light sleeper, you'll be annoyed. Parties usually stopped around midnight, though. The suites are located in a sandy portion of the street and getting in and out of there with rain was a bit of a downside with the puddles. The island as a whole has a lot of mosquitoes, so equip with repelant and keep some electrical repelants plugged during the stay. The river and terrains around cause many mosquitoes to show up at night.
