Mimi's House

Really good value for the money. The room was pretty comfortable if a little small, but it is just a bedroom in a house. The room does have its own microwave, kettle, and fridge, so the only time I needed the kitchen was when I wanted a teaspoon and to clean said teaspoon. The door also has a lock, and there's a fairly good fan that kept me comfortable throughout the night. The bed was also quite good. I didn't feel so much like I was sleeping in a completely foreign bed. And there were plenty of blankets in the closet if it happened to be cold. Towels are also provided, so save a little space in your bag and leave yours at home! The house is easy to come and go from, with a front door key being provided with the room key, and motion-activated lights for the front entrance. The floors are kept very clean too. There are a few bus stops nearby within a 10 minute walk with each bus coming every hour or so, and a few shops with an Aldi a ~15 minute walk away. A bus, a train, and another very brief bus ride will get you to any of Perth Airport's terminals, so the house is in a very convenient location for anyone traveling to Perth by plane. Definitely get yourself a SmartRider card so you can make the best use of the public transport options.

There isn't much I didn't like. The house is a bit far from Fremantle, which is where I was going every day that I was staying there. The trip takes at least two busses, but you have a couple routes to choose from that vary from an hour to two hours. But this is by no means a negative point, just an issue I ran into for me personally. Just be aware that with there being a full-size fridge in the room, the fan that I had being pretty noisy, and other guests within earshot, noise might be a bit of an issue. I always sleep with earplugs so I didn't get bothered by it, but not everyone sleeps with earplugs. The bathroom is your average house bathroom, but the shower head is a bit weak in terms of water-pressure. It was kept very clean, but as it's shared expect to find bottles of product belonging to others like I did. I just used my own and took them back to my room when I was done. And the overhead light in my room was a little dim.

Mimi was overseas and unwell, however I was still able to communicate directly with her couple of days prior to arrival to confirm all details. Due to fact that arrival was around midnight and departure was 6am, I was told to leave cash in microwave in room on departure.

On arrival there was no names on doors to show who was staying as discussed, also no doors had keys in them as discussed. After finding all room doors locked, by rattling door 2 which is where we should have been we found it occupied by young lady who checked in earlier and took room as only one vacant. Rang number for acting manager who told us that best she could do was mattress on floor. But she would come down. She never did. Young lady offered room back to us as she was getting up in two hours anyway, and would sleep on sofa in lounge room. So we got into room about 1am, not having room remade, and leaving in five hours. I rang acting manager again to explain that young lady surrender room, even though she booked couple of days ago. I booked room seven days prior. Booking dot com got blame for overbooked rooms, I was told this second time it happened in four weeks. I complained on app and was informed they refunded the young lady her money. I asked if we would be compensated or what Mimi thought of situation. I was fobbed off and told one bad review will make no difference to her. I also shared this story with next two managers in next accommodation over next few days. They were disgusted, they both said that it was there responsibility to find me alternative accommodation as it was against health codes for me to sleep in a bed without it being remade with clean sheets. It is not my fault that booking dot com overbooked, it falls back on establishment and they should sort it out later, after settling customer.
