CASTAWAY BEACH HOUSE- NO Parties - NO Pets

Clean, location - close to cafes,store, easy walk to beach,cost I enjoyed the interaction with the other guests, however this can obviously be hit and miss

Nothing too serious- the floorboards on the rear deck are a little dodgy

very disappointed in this property we tried to book last minute as i was driving from airlie beach to GC for a female with 16hr drive it is essential to have somewhere to sleep in btween destinations they accepted my booking around 6.30 pm to message us with no details of how to check in, i asked for further details to check in to be told that it was to late to check in however they did not respond accomadate or even apologies thats very terrible service not to metion what you put your guest through at that time of the night is unfair id like to be re-imbursed in full otherwise i will post this on google

Great location. Suited my needs to have bathroom & kitchen & the home to myself.

Some of the pots & pans had not been washed up very well. I did clean one of them up, but 2 of the non-stick saucepans were difficult to get clean. I am guessing that this was from some of the previous guests. Was not an issue for me. Just something I noted, as wanted to use the saucepan.

Really nice property, very clean and good location in the town. Close to the greyhound drop off and the beach.

I liked the idea of a shared house, in a hostel style, but with more facilities. Bed was super comfy. Location was excellent, close to everything. Price unbeatable. We’re travelling camping but after a couple of days of rain, we were honestly tired and wanted a roof over our heads: the house worked fine for our purpose.

I absolutely disliked the (un)welcome book that the owners ask you to read: it is filled with a very weird tone and it goes on and on for pages saying “if you do this, I’ll kick you out of the property / I’ll call the police, I did it before / there’s cameras, I’m watching you” I’m not some teenage criminal, I’m 36 and I am a paying customer and I expect to be treated with kindness and respect, the same respect I give to the properties I stay in. I understand they must have had some bad experience with some customers in the past (like any other hotel on the world) but this is not how you do hospitality. It’s a shame, because the idea of the shared house itself is, as I said in the pros, lovely and interesting. I wish the owners could be more welcoming, when I talked to them via msg they seemed ok, but the book really upset me and gave me unpleasant vibes.
