Titicaca Sariri Lodge

Issac and his wife Gladys are some of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. I was worried about arriving at night in the dark but Isaac was waiting at the docks with his warm welcome. Gladys cooked us a gorgeous chicken dinner which we ate in our lodge - just what we needed after a long day travelling! Her breakfast was incredible one if not our best in Peru, the fruit was so fresh and tasty! Waking up to sunrise was so incredible, and Issac’s information on the islands was really great along with the fishing trip and a quick tour around the local islands. Honestly I think this is the best, most authentic ways to experience the floating islands! Issac is never in a rush and there’s no rush to get you back to Puno, so we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery. A once in a lifetime stay and Gladys does make some beautiful authentic gifts you can purchase.

The only thing I’d suggest is don’t go to the local restaurant, although it’s nice to support local businesses, we wished we’d either stayed and enjoyed Gladys beautiful cooking one more time or just headed straight to Puno. Also pack coffee with you - we had some in our bag to enjoy with our breakfast but otherwise only tea is offered which is totally fine just a tip for other coffee lovers like me!

Isaac et sa famille nous ont fait passer un séjour formidable, un accueil exceptionnel, une cuisine délicieuse, une chambre avec vue incroyable sur le lac au calme, nous avons pu profiter du coucher et du lever du soleil. Moment inoubliable. Nous recommandons cette adresse les yeux fermés !

Lovely family thanks to Isaac and Gladys. Beautifully decorated room. Lovely breakfast included and nice dinner as added extra. Family were not imposing but there to help. Great communication via WhatsApp and easy pick up and drop off at port. Nice fishing trip to pull in nets with Issac and boat tour of community all included. Authentic stay on reed island 😊

This is an experience Hotel, something entirely different. Given that, it is superb experience. It is managed by Isaac and his family and he does everything to introduce you into the way of life of the Uros. We went out in one of his fishing boats, a magically experience gliding through the Dottore reads, listening to the sounds of birds and experiencing the calm of that Lake. In the evening he made a meal for us, in the morning, breakfast. Both were great. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a bit of luxury within a very authentic setting. The pickup and drop off to the pier works very well, the trip is about 30 minutes.

As mentioned, this is an experience Hotel. The room gets cold at night - although there was a heater provided - and the room is very hot during the day due to the large Windows providing The view.

Our wonderful hosts Isaac and Gladys met us at the dock and from that moment we knew we would have a wonderful and unique experience. The view from our room and sun deck was stunningly beautiful and we loved watching the sunset and sunrise. As it can be very cold in the evening/night, a fire was provided, as well as extra blankets and hot water bottles! We loved going out with Isaac on his reed fishing boat and hearing all about his family history and their way of life over the years. I’d worried about the sawdust non-flushing toilet, but it was absolutely fine! Apart from the wonderful views and unique experiences, it was Isaac and Gladys that made this a very special place. No tourist trappings (though you do have the option to buy Gladys’ craft work. (We bought a lovely embroidered cushion cover) without feeling pressurised. We heartily recommend this unique accommodation- it’s truly life enhancing. Wish we could have stayed an extra night. Isaac was very flexible about timings and took us back to the dock to meet our taxi for the bus station. We were in safe hands!

A lack of wifi could have been a problem, but we turned it into an opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Soggiornare al Titicaca Sariri Lodge è stata un’esperienza meravigliosa che porteremo sempre nel cuore. La struttura, interamente costruita in totora, galleggia su un silenzio magico: mia moglie ha paragonato la pace e la serenità di questo luogo a quelle delle Maldive. ​La nostra stanza era spaziosa, con due letti molto comodi e una vista mozzafiato sul lago. Ma il vero valore aggiunto è Isac, un proprietario superlativo: si fa letteralmente in quattro per i suoi ospiti. Ci ha fatto vivere bellissime esperienze autentiche, come la pesca tradizionale, facendoci sentire parte della cultura locale. ​Inoltre, è stato di una gentilezza rara: avendo l’autobus in tarda serata, ci ha permesso di utilizzare la stanza ben oltre l’orario del check-out. Se cercate un luogo unico, umano e rigenerante, questo lodge è un vero sogno ad occhi aperti. Consigliatissimo!
