Agung's Annex Homestay

I have some dietary needs and restrictions: 1) I need to manage my cholesterol because I had a heart block, and a blocked artery that required a stent. But I do not want to take cholesterol statins, so I have to strictly control my diet. 2) I have Age-related Macular Degeneration, Wet In my left eye, Dry in my right, and I can stabilise that situation by taking AREDS 2 supplements and eating certain foods. So the eating situation, at Agung's, was perfect for me, or for anyone who has to manage their diet for health reasons. With seven choices for breakfast, I could choose what was helpful for me, avoid what was not good for my heart, and use the fully equipped kitchen to prepare extras for myself. For example, I requested just one egg - boiled (not two eggs, in an omelette, or scrambled), and I requested tofu or tempe (instead of white-flour noodles, or white-bread toast, or white rice), and I could make my own toast (sourdough wholemeal, from the close GrandLucky Supermarket), in the guest kitchen. Plus fresh fruit and tea/coffee were provided. The staff were not at all bothered about my eccentric breakfast eating, although most guests would be very happy with the seven choices for breakfast. I also liked that there was a hot/cold water dispenser in the guest kitchen, and a good-sized guest fridge, where I was able to keep a week's supply for other meals (although there are some nice healthy eating options in local warungs, especially Lilla Warung - in Jalan Bumi Ayu).

I had seen a report, on the booking.com website, that there were rooms with a little enclosed courtyard, or some rooms that opened to the garden. So I requested, in my booking, to have a room without the courtyard - so, for my week's stay, I would be looking at plants, not courtyard walls. Well, within minutes of making my booking, there was a response that I had been allocated Room 02, which opened to the garden. The room was good, and there was a table and chairs under cover outside, but there was a big window facing the breakfast tables: that turned out to be a problem for me, at night. On three nights - of my week's stay - there were guests sitting at those tables, and socialising quite loudly, until late at night. So I wasn't able to go to sleep until the socialising guests left those breakfast tables. On one night, at midnight, I went out and asked a group of four if they could go to their rooms to do their talking: "It's midnight, and I'd like to go to sleep. My room is just there." That situation was a problem for me, caused by guests who liked to socialise until late - not an easy problem for Agung's to fix!

Even we had a few minor misunderstandings at first, our host was incredibly quick to respond and went above and beyond to resolve everything. Thanks to her prompt help and clear communication, we ended up with a flawless stay and felt genuinely welcomed.

Perfect! The neighborhood is amazing if you’re seeking a more local experience, breakfast also very good, exceeded my expectations and I would love to come back!

amazing breakfast, good location near the beach very nice host and sweet cats and dogs on site. the room was clean and well kept. the aircon was not too strong but we managed! thanks alot

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, providing information about local businesses and attractions. The property allows access to a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and food storage. The neighbourhood is quiet and close to amenities.

My stay was too short.

Staff were absolutely lovely and helpful, breakfast was always delicious and the facilities, location was great. bed was super comfortable, aircon great and alround great place to stay😊
