Die Aussicht ins Tal ist wunderschön. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und bequem. Die Besitzer sind extrem freundlich und haben 3 super liebe kleine Hunde die einen freundlich begrüßen. Zu Fuß über die Gleise (das ist hier absolut normal) ist man innerhalb von 5 Minuten mitten in Ella und kann alle Vorzüge genießen. Für uns war der Aufenthalt und die Lage perfekt :)

Shanta is very friendly and smiley. We asked whatever we wondered. He replied very kindly. We leaved from there a lot of beatiful memories.

Everything was horrible to say the least in the politest of terms!!!

Unclean rooms.Dust in plenty both inside and outside the rooms.The temple too was not kept well.Stinking bathrooms with huge gaps on top leading to the intermingling of foul air from adjacent toilets as also light from the bulbs therein filtering into your room. Instead of replacing the dusty mosquito net with a clean one the monks sister simply removed it and left the room bereft of one.Mosquitos and insects were present in jolly good numbers well inside the room. Only 3 monks-1 chief and the other 2 learners.One monk, from the two, named Shantanand runs the accomodation part as his own family business alongwith his mother and sister, taking advantage of the temple connection and naming it Meditation Monastery with no meditation being carried out at all and in the bargain cleverly fooling people to stay there.Besides, half an hour of eyes closed per day will not lead anyone to Nirvana.The property is, literally, bang on top of the railway tracks with trains passing by frequently,horns blaring away,wheels rattling away,and your bones and senses screaming away.Holiday revellers take the short cut across the tracks next to the so called Meditation Monastery to reach their properties talking loudly and hooting wildly in the midst of the night.Sleepless in Ella!!! Both the self styled monk and his family are uncouth and get agitated if you point out the unkempt condition of the rooms and property.The self proclaimed monk Shantanand though having travelled to India 20 times,as per his own words,with a begging bowl for funds,alms,and what have you from India,had the gall to start a racial tirade against Indians.Why?? Because we as world traveller's,having the capacity to live in the best of properties,had been misled by the reviews on booking.

I will be honest, I was really looking forward to coming to this place. It was the penultimate stop on my trip to Sri Lanka and, of course, one of the most memorable. I am absolutely delighted. I will remember this place for many years thanks to the kind, friendly and caring monks and staff, comfortable rooms, peace, quiet and, of course, the opening landscapes. Such beauty around - it cannot be described. You have to see it. My expectations from staying at Meditation Monastery Stay were met 1000%. If you have the opportunity, be sure to come to Meditation Monastery Stay! I am very grateful to all the staff of Meditation Monastery Stay for their hospitality. Delicious breakfasts, beautiful, well-kept territory! Thank you, I will try to come back. p.s. As it was written before me, the easiest way to get there is from the station along the railway tracks. Unless of course you have suitcases. At first I decided to take the detour and that was a mistake. I chose a room with a terrace. While observing nature you can see and hear many different birds, giant squirrels and of course chipmunks
