Wild Blue Water

My wife and I are a recently retired European couple. We rented a car and drove down to Wild Blue Water, staying 3 nights in November 2023. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating about our arrival time. The guest bedroom in their house is very clean and has a dedicated bathroom adjacent to it in the corridor. The corridor is screened from the owner's own kitchen/lounge area by a curtain. The bed was comfortable.

The last 300yds of driving along Government Beach Road are interesting with some very big potholes to navigate. Once you turn into the property though, there are no more potholes (unless you count the volcanic crater in the enormous grassed area in front of the house. This is Hawaii, after all!) The room has a microwave to warm things up but no real utensils to make or eat your own food.

The property was amazing! There is a pool and hot tub and tons of grass to wander around and soak up the scenery. It’s located just a few feet from the rocky coastline with amazing views. The room we had was a part of the house but we had an available private entry if we wanted. Otherwise we just walked through the front door whenever we arrived or left. The hosts are very hospitable and nice but left us to ourselves which was nice, although they were available if we needed them - which we really didn’t. We did have a few opportunities to visit with them, which was nice, but they definitely didn’t get in our way at all or act like we were putting them out. Great people! The room we were in was very comfortable and clean. The bedroom was very large with lots of windows and a back door that went right to the pool and then right behind the pool was the coast. The property site on top of a cliff of lava rock, so definitely not swimmable, but the view is absolutely amazing! The bathroom was huge and it had a giant jetted tub and huge shower. There also tons of closet space. The property is off of a road that is a little bit rough, but it’s not too far down that road. Any car can make it although some of the pot holes on the road will make the drive pretty fun. It’s not necessary to have a truck or suv.

This place is such a steal! The host is super nice and goes above and beyond with their service. We can pick fresh fruits from the surrounding fruit trees! Although we don't have time to pick them ourselves, the host has picked them for us!! Plus, there's a pool, an awesome spot to check out the sea view, and a BBQ grill. Totally loved it!
