* Great location: Taroko Visitor Center was in walking distance (<5 km) * Quiet and relatively big room with great views * Kettle and fridge in the room, and additional supplies on the first floor * WiFi worked just fine

* Toilet paper could not be flushed (which is rather common in the accommodations in Taiwan yet still unattractive to me)

Memories Homestay was quiet, comfortable, clean and conveniently located in Xincheng township. It is a 20min walk from/to the train station but the staff was helpful and booked us a taxi. I definitely recommend staying there for a day trip to Taroko Gorge.

Der Rezeptionist war sehr freundlich, sprach sehr gutes Englisch und hat uns sowohl beim Check-in als auch bei der Nutzung der Waschmaschine und der Kaffeemaschine bestens unterstützt. Besonders positiv war, dass kostenlos Snacks, Instantnudeln sowie Kaffee mit Milch und Zucker zur Verfügung gestellt wurden. Das Zimmer selbst war sehr geräumig und verfügte über eine eigene Sitzecke. Das Bett war bequem, und das bereitgestellte Shampoo sowie Duschgel haben sehr angenehm gerochen. Toll war auch, dass wir unsere Fahrräder sicher im Ergeschoss abstellen konnten. Wir hatten insgesamt einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt und können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.

No breakfast however the lobby always puts some snacks and instant noodles available for guests! The room was spacious and the beds comfortable which allowed us to have a good night sleep. Conveniently located close to the train station and convenience stores. Laundry machine available to use for free.

The receptionist hours were a bit uncertain. However, they provide you with the door password so you can access anytime. It's hard for me to put more than 8/10 because the town itself is a bit sad and the overall atmosphere is a bit gloomy, but the hostel itself is doing a good job.
